Yeah, I guess. The lower portion, or the lobby/entrance looks slightly taller in the render (1 floor higher).

We can see the formwork of the lateral shear walls peeking above the Lloyds Intl' Gallery Building.
The Jekyll & Hyde Club used to be in there, with it's extremely unusual facade. https://www.google.nl/maps/@40.76469...7i13312!8i6656

The current design suits the area better I must say.

I think it's actually correct, but that lower row is missing. In the render, the bottoms of the lowest row of windows (which don't exist yet) appear to line up with the top of the ornate facade on the front of the building. You can see it poking out from behind the big banner.

So I think they will punch those four lower windows, and resurface the exposed brick area in two parts -- an upper that will match the west wall with the extant windows, and a lower that will match the front facade.

That seems to be the case, indeed. Thanks for clarifying.

I think you guys are looking at older renders.
The new rendering ( with the fancier ceiling) shows only 2 window rows within the lobby.

Edit: tho the ceiling seems to be covering a part of that 3rd row so you very well could be right.

Only 80 floors? It should be 88.

I don't think these are inconsistent with each other. The windows in this newer render still seem to be right above the level of the ornate street facade. I think we're still dealing with three sets of windows: one new one punched in, and one partially obscured by the hanging "coffers" of whatever we want to call that stuff.

An article on the building came out in The Globe and Mail's ROB magazine two days ago. Apparently there is no online link, but I could take a photo (it's one page) and post.

They could be some kind of baffles to reduce noise (echoing) of such a high hall.
Also depends on the cladding of the inner walls - hard or soft.

I think you must be right. You can imagine every heel click being deafening with those high ceilings.

From the Toronto Globe and Mail's Report on Business magazine, this month's edition:

No web link, so it's just a photo of the article spread. I think I've seen the render before... and is it still supposed to be completed in 2018?

This will win all of the skyscraper awards when it is finished.

The building should shoot up after it passes the next 4-5 floors, considering how thin it is.
I wouldn't be surprised if it tops out by the end of next year or early 2018.

I think it will. Once construction passes Steinway Hall, it will shoot up like Bamboo. 432 Park rose in the blink of an eye (if an eye blink is about a year and a half...)

Seriously? $13mil for the cheapest flat? That's crazy. Wonder what you get for that money - probably some broom closet overlooking that great lobby with a view from 60ft.

Although this is a slender tower, it's not fair to compare the whole base of the ESB to only the shaft here. The tower portion of the ESB isn't even 35000 square feet.

[QUOTE=Ghostface79;135632691]

So someone's M$ view will be into another person's room of the building in front? They are so close to each other.

Or probably never mind, I'm just realizing as I'm writing, that those floors will be the gym and things like that
