I saw recently that the market for $4,000,000 + units in NYC is starting to crater ... might want to speed up the construction of this building before the market totally implodes.

^ Agreed Tower Verre and this building along with 220 Central Park are all being built to late, One57 and 432 Park Avenue were the real winners. 432 Park Avenue did some 4,000,000,000 plus in sales.

I remember reading that it'll be 60 feet wide.

According to Wikipedia it will become the slenderest building in the world.

https://www.google.fi/?hl=fi&gws_rd=...feet+in+meters

≈18.3 m

Also googled this:

http://ny.curbed.com/2014/11/17/1002...raper-revealed

..So according to Curbed it's base footprint is going to be ≈24,4 x 18,3 in meters.

OT: If i had the money, i would totally build a huge megatall in midtown and share it with everyone. I would not care about profit at all. I just hope that NYC will once get it´s first megatall too. I am sort of jealous of other places who have such tall buildings. The best being the Shanghai Tower.
I feel you. I get jealous too all the time when i visit shenzhen threads as it is building ESB sized buildings like a breeze. Sometimes, I even feel my heart pounding for fear of NY losing its spot as greatest skyscrapercity for me.

Edit: Oh, and just like you, I too have wondered if some richest people in America would do favor of building a megatall just to fill on the skyline, and at times i have even wondered what i would do if i had a billion or two. Glad im not the only one who has these fantasies

It already is and according to Yimby it surpassed the Steinway Hall building and is at floor 16 or as i write this post 17 now.

EDIT: What i wonder is, will this tower be visible from the top of the rock after Tower Verre tops out?

I don't think Tower Verre will be able to keep up with 111 West's speed, maybe it will be covered for a while but Tower Verre is slower and less tall than 111 West

With such height, sure it will be visible, there was a render where we were able to see the future New York viewed from top of the rock with all slender towers included, not sure in which thread it was posted though, but it was pretty Sci Fi.

It will be insanely thin.
