Nice shots! What's the thing on top of ESB at the 1250' mark? It looks like a space for a time & temperature clock.

That's a good question about the ESB. What is that?

It's just a Crane hook, that's all.

I see what they mean.. Above the red crane hook.. a weird looking box thing.

This is what ESB should look: (make a comparison)

It's just a temporary cocoon/scaffolding for work on an antenna upgrade. I think they're in the process of wrapping things up.

No building will ever be as stunning as the ESB.

I don't disagree, but that's a matter of opinion. Certainly no building will dominate on the world stage the way ESB did for so many years.

I've always thought it is such a shame that the crown of the ESB has been clustered by so many antennas and communication equipment. It ruins it's art deco styling by hiding it under a cobweb of metal. I was hoping the communication ring on One World would help ease that cluster. It's a crime to do that to one of the wonders of the world.

I personally like the antenna, but I agree they should remove all radio equipment below the 1250' mark. Same goes for the radio equipment on the chrysler building crown, it should be gotten rid of or hidden asap. Any updates on the cladding of this tower?

Just imagine entertaining friends or just having a morning coffee where that sofa is with that backdrop.

Wow, now the slender proportions of this building are really becoming apparent. I would already consider this building very thin if it topped off right now, I can't believe it will reach over 400 meters in the end! This must have been a huge engineering challenge to keep this building from swaying too much in high winds.

The top couple hundred feet will be pretty much ventilation allowing for air flow, but still...
