I'm not surprised. Though I like this building, the current "Billionaires Row" boom has always seemed to me like a housing bubble waiting to burst. This kind of market speculation never ends well. I would actually expect to hear more stories like this.

The good thing about being already 20 stories up is that even if this articule is accurate I don┤t think the project will only get delayed, $ 50 million over the budget doesn't seem too much.

I may not be an investor, but why would they want to risk abandoning this whole project because of a relatively "minor" cost overrun. I have no idea how expensive this building will be but I am assuming it will be in the 1-2 billion range. This means that this cost overrun is only between 2.5% to 5% of the overall price of the project. I'm guessing a lot more than 50 million have already been spent on this building such as obtaining land and air rights as well as construction so far. Other buildings such as the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg went 10 times over budget and were still completed, so I sure hope they work things out.

When additional costs take a way a big enough share of the investors projected revenue, wanting to pull back is an understandable response.

50 million $ is nothing..... Its too high profile of a project to be put on hold or stopped.

It would be one of the greatest disappointments of skyscraper construction history if this tower stalls or gets put on hold

The question now looms: Could this be the end of a skyscraper boom?

What are you two talking about? When it gets cloudy do you start building an ark?

Judge block this, and they already have a $750 million loan in the bank.

Are you offended or something? My posts seem to upset you. It's almost like you're easily offended like a special snowflake.

The facade has started a while ago, the positive sign here is, that they have poured 2 floors since the foreclosure rumors have surfaced.

How so? This view will only get much better, for such a tall and slender skyscraper won't block much of Central Park, yet it will remind you that the future has reached us with a new wave of supertalls breaking many NYC skylines' Plateaus.
