No... You're right

It will be located to the left (West) of One57 and Built right in front of Nordstrom Tower. The arrow that Tim marked will be the location of both towers.

I am sorry, I thought I said it was left to the new tower... not One57.

Anyways, now I'm clear about it.
Thanks, VG and tim!

So much for a classical tower!

The only thing I see classical about it, from that rendering anyway, is the setbacks. Lots of Art Deco buildings have many setbacks with balconies (or not) that seem to add a perception of greater height. Usually though, they had wider bases with thin towers set on top.

Posted by Hunser from the Nordstrom Thread. This will give you an idea how close these towers will be to each other. (One57 is the building in the middle) Amazing! 220 CPS will be located right in front of Nordstrom site which could rise 800+ ft.

True but we have not seen the North Facing side. That could be Art Deco-ish to blend in with the Central Park Skyline.

this makes me wonder how they will make the structure...
maybe the core will be on one side? or maybe just columns?

with the top tapering on a building this thin, maybe it's quite a large crown?
the bit on top of the silver bit looks like pure glass

I still have a hard time believing that a tower both that slim and that tall is about to happen. Do all of us realize that 411 meters was the almost the same height as old WTC (417 & 415 meters respectively). But in the case of WTC we were talking about a huge base - 1 acre in total. Over here this is almost close to nothing. It is equal to merely 3 windows in width if you put a store on the first floor.

something really unbelievable is happening in the world of building materials and structural steel/cement.

I think I liked the shorter version of 107 West 57th.

Tower Verre is gonna look insignificant next to this.

All I have to say is, YES.

Actually, that's not true. I'm incredibly excited by this development, and I hope it's not complicated by the Landmarks process. I understand there was a possibility that this tower might hang over Steinway Hall, in which case it might have to go under review?

In any case, I have to have a little scoff at Gary Barnett. If this 1350 ft tower comes to fruition, and the rumors of a 1253 ft version of 225 w. 57th are true, he will not only have undershot his ambition of having the tallest tower in NYC... he'll have to settle for 3rd place on this street.

Looking forward to more detailed renders, especially of the East/West sides and whatever the CP-facing side will look like. The bronze-and-terra cotta finish is a nice surprise and I'm curious about this "soft glow" at night.

Anyway, bravo!

Maybe the core will be on the west side. That view will be obstructed by One57 anyway.

Considering how far west of Trump Parc this appears to be, it must be situated behind the landmarked portion of Steinway.

This seriously doubled in height, it started off at around 600 feet, now 1350 ft, pretty incredible, makes me even more excited to see the design of 225 west, whether or not its the original height or now shortened, all these towers all so close together, at a significant height, is nothing but impressive.

If this stays the height it currently is, it will sell better and will be more expensive then 432 Park. Penthouse could go to $130m possibly? Anyways, 57th is the new 5th Ave.

There are tons of super slim buildings in NYC, but thay all aren't higher than about 400 feet. But this thing really takes it to other dimensions. I'm sure it can be done though. Just look at 432 PA if you're standing right in front of it, it still looks huge. The only problem I can think of is the small floorplates this will have ( especially in the top ). I indeed think this won't have the core in the middle, since there wouldn't be too much space left around then.

Good news, the CB may endorse it. Bad news, Landmarks may give it a give chop.
Oh. so this wont happen... welp, it was a kinda cool idea.

I don't understand why Landmarks would give it a chop? fpractically any building would cast a shadow over another building
and when looking from street view a 200m tower would barely make a difference to say a 300m and 400m tower... as it would just look huge anyway

Here's what I think it will be like.

I have changed my mind. We won't need a 1550ft 225 to balance out 432. This is wonderful.

107 is taking up the entire lot area at the base so it has a surprising amount of depth, 225 is the new shorter height, 220 is 850ft. Note Nordstrom is jammed to the west, likely will be closer to one57.
