I was on my tablet when i saw Lucas post 3675 and thought that picture 4 and 5 are renders. Then it hit me, this is a photography of the real facade. Now i cannot wait to see this buildings crown being done next year.

It does remind me of the insides of a piano actually..

..like the hammers and brass of a piano.

New York is what it is today, because of the one percenters...past and present

I’m not as impressed with the south side glass as I was hoping. But the east and west sides are absolutely stunning. They really raised the bar.

South side glass is still in the shadows, wait till it rises more and the ☀️ hits it.

I’m not digging the glass mullions. Thought they’d be wider and further apart.

From a distance the facade might be a monotonous stripe pattern, and it seems like a design flaw to have those brass design elements impeding the view from the east and west windows.

Why was this thread removed from the New York section of the forum? All the tags has also been removed which makes finding this topic difficult.

One last one from Friday.

I'll be curious to see how the undulations in the terra cotta affect light and shadow as this thing gets taller -- hopefully that effect, combined with the glistening bronze, will make it remarkable even from a distance during the day, as imagined here:

At night, of course, we'll have the spectacular lighting effects to make sure of it...

As for the bronze impeding the views from the East and West windows, you may be right (as far as I know we haven't seen any interior renders with views from the sides). But this facade mockup shot gives us a pretty good idea of where the design element crosses in front of the window...

It looks like the design elements are aligned so that the most obtrusive part crosses closer to the top of the viewing area of the window, rather than across the middle of it. Because of the tower's structure, with the East and West walls supporting the structure, the floorplans are oriented to focus on the views to the North and South anyway, so even if the East/West views are a little obstructed, that's probably not where you're going to be spending most of your time looking.

And certainly the views won't be as obstructed the ones in 53w53...

That's quite true.

It's interesting how many folks love the symbols of wealth while despising the wealth that made them possible.

First of all, there won´t be many east7west windows in each unit that can be obstructed with the design elements that sit between the terracota cladding parts.

Also, Those terracota elements will torque and twist while they go higher and rertwist and retorque to give more volume to this stepping effect that the tower will have on the east and west elevation when looking from street level and such.

Shop did a masterpiece with this tower.

Yeah, but the so-called "slackers" (i.e. the 99%) do the REAL work of making the city run (bus drivers, taxi drivers, police, firemen, plumbers, construction workers, sanitation workers, teachers, subway motormen, etc, etc. The 1% can't function without the 99%!!

Let's not forget their contributions to a great city (my hometown).

You're playing the class warfare game. The fact is neither could exist without the other and New York wouldn't be with out either.

I don't think he is playing any class warfare game, he is just soliciting the recognition of all, this is what he said: "Let's not forget their contributions to a great city" And it is true, the wealth in NY, and in any place, is not created just by that 1% or whatever, it is created by the society as a whole, from the cleaning lady to the president of the gigantic corporation. (more or less what you said too)
