I really like it. It's exciting & different. Hope to see more details especially the north facing facade. I hope it will be white like its shows in that pic. The point of view from the park will look amazing as it fits in somehow IMO. Curious to see how this will blend in with the Steinway portion from street level.

Looks great from 57th Street (this is a JDS website image I saw on SSP via NYGuy):

That glass atrium really accentuates the stone of the Steinway building. And they will put nice stone on the east side of the Steinway as well (inside the atrium/lobby). Nice to see that the entire Steinway tower fronting on 57th Street will be preserved.

The Buckingham is going to be renamed The Quin, so that "Buckingham" sign on the right will probably be changed.

Awesome. thanks!

I agree, I'm very happy with the design at street level and it seems the Steinway from the outside is totally untouched and that should make the LMC very satisfied.

That is one tall atrium.. it looks to be 8-9 stories tall & the acoustics should be fantastic in there as they should put a nice Steinway Grand piano in there.

There seems to be a lot of activity recently going on with DOB with this tower. Seems like JDS is eager to get this thing off the ground.

document found in DOB in regard to the Steinway Hall If anyone is interested.

Can't wait for someone to create a drawing of this building for the NYC SSP diagram. I am eager to see it standing proud in the lineup!

Holy double Sheet is right! The side fašade is really unique and cool!

The North facing side of those apartments will be sick!! What a viewing room that will be. Floor to ceiling views looking North, West and East! Sort of like glass enclosed balconies.

Then you have those amazing views on the south facing side! fuhgettaboutit! These apartment prices are going to be insane here.

That model of 111 W. 57th street is being prepared for the exhibition at the Skyscraper Museum if anyone would be interested in checking it out.

Sky High & The Logic Of Luxury:
http://www.skyscraper.org/EXHIBITION...H/sky_high.htm

Quote:
SKY HIGH examines the recent proliferation of super-slim, ultra-luxury residential towers on the rise in Manhattan. These pencil-thin buildings-all 50 to 90+ stories-constitute a new type of skyscraper in a city where tall, slender structures have a long history.

Sophisticated engineering and advances in material strengths have made these spindles possible, but it is the excited market for premium Manhattan real estate that is driving both heights and prices skyward, Reported sales seem almost inconceivable: some penthouses in the buildings featured here are in contract for $47 million to $95 million.
Where: Skyscraper Museum
When: October 9th – April 19th 2014

Left to right: 432 Park Avenue, One57, 111 West 57th, Four Seasons at 30 Park Place, 56 Leonard, Hudson Yards Tower D.

Hopefully they will have a model of the other towers to view as well.

That model looks so great with the horizontal floor beams and the ultra vertical top.

If we are going with the DOB height listed of 1,200 ft (highest occupied floor) then I am assuming that these units will have loft height ceilings of 16 ft. This would be a huge selling point with their units in addition to the views these units will offer.

There will be 74 floors X (16) = which gives you close to the 1,200 ft figure at 1,184 ft. I assume the fins will extend the height of this tower by additional 144 ft.

From the picture of that model I estimated the fins to be equivalent of 9 stories. (I just counted the windows from the side and measured it against the fins starting from the top most structure of the first stair case like fašade on the south side which looks to be at least occupiable)

So if 9 floors are 16ft each in height that gives you additional 144 ft and I estimate that the final structural height of this tower will be, give or take in the neighborhood of 1,328ft tall.

Good eye. And as long as it stays over 400m / 1312ft I'll be happy.
