SkyscraperPage finally has a diagram of 111 West 57th Street, so now I can actually know how tall this building will actually look compared to other buildings in NYC/US.

Yes, it's been on since Thursday (see my post #668).

Anyway, I really love what SHoP did here. Rarely I see such an awesome design on a tower which is over 400m tall.

Yes, I know what you mean by that Dubai Marina "feeling". For now, all the supertalls are quite spread out. We have three main clusters: WTC, HY, 57th. The only problem I see is 57th, where many towers are of similar height (434m,426m,411m). That's why so many of us hoped 225W57th would be at least 500m. The CPS skyline corridor needs a peek.

I don't see a problem with 3 similar height towers of over 400 meter.
In this case they are far enough apart.

Aesthetically, the building looks great... and somewhat terrifying.

Credit to the architect though. If you're going to be building a tower that thin and that tall anyway, there's perhaps no better design you could have come up with. This building is striking and artful within the constraints of an uneasy template.

in the photo above you can see where the highest floor is. without any calculations and just measurement with hands and on the spot it looks like the crown will be around 80m tall. maybe a roof height of around 330m. higher than i expected since we heard a lower number before in rumors.

I'd rather live at the top of 225 so I could see this one.

Nope it's landmarked anyway so they can't raze it. The two small building left to the steinway are to go.

Yes, these two buildings which are going to be demolished are not really wide. Difficult to believe a 400m+ tower will rise there

the building site is the empty one on the right!! not the two small buildings on the left. And what i understand is they will demolish a portion of the back of the Steinway hall . this tower will e wider then the pot on the right. It's half of the steinway building and the side of the plot on the right.

lol true. Forgot those are already razed. The space also looks almost identical in size - another super thin supertall on the other side of steinway in the future?

432 Park Avenue rose from a small site, but this one is even smaller.

It's not even close. The width of 432 Park and 1WTC's parapet are closer percentage-wise than this and 432.

Aside from the possibilities of what may happen at one Vanderbilt and WTC 2, this is by far my favorite project!!

Is there any chance that this building could fall over?
