I hope so!

P.S.: We're due for an announcement from the Wanda Group.

Good to see this in prep. One of my personal favorites of the proposed NYC supertall designs.

How tall will the Dalian Wanda Group's tower be, do you think?

Is this the "realtor tower?"

Oh they changed the design of this building. Well I still like it, and the design looks pretty good.

Am I the only one who thinks this is a bit too thin?

Its North to South distance sets off the extremely thin East to West distance to me.

A better question would be whether there is anyone who doesn't think that.

I think it looks great with that width.

Sort of puts me in mind of a Tikal temple, or the Hampshire House.

It's interesting that both One57 and 111 face away from the park. Obviously they need to face the street at the entrances, but the designs aren't even neutral in their directions. When you look at them from the park, they're towers that are clearly facing away from you. Odd for parkside/parkview towers.

In fact, One57's cascading waterflow design would've been more noticeable and more easily appreciated from the park side.

That said, I think this tower manages to embody the classic New York look while also being completely modern. So many modern buildings in NY look fine, but don't really say "New York". This one does.

I always thought they faced towards it, since they are pointing upwards in its direction.

Yeah but on One57 and this one the setbacks and decorations are on the street side, while on the park side there is nothing but straight wall, making it the backside.

I see it the same way as they. It appears that they are looking to the South.

I've always thought of them as facing the Park. Hard to say why, just that the form seems to push up and into the North-facing vertical plane. And that the solid face on the North is the more imposing and purposeful. But interesting that others read it the opposite way.

They are definitely looking north from my point of view. The flat glass is for viewing the park and the symbol on one57 faces that way. Besides a persons face is flat and the back of the head is sloped.

The park is why the towers have gathered on 57th in the first place.

Calling Mr. Wanda!

I was walking by the Ziegfeld Theatre (141 W 54th St) recently and thought, as I have many times, that it's a matter of time before a 300m+ tower rises on this full block site between 54th and 55th Streets. It has unimpeded views of Central Park, even taking into account all of the planned towers, and could be cleared ASAP.

These thoughts prompted a Google search which yielded the following:

City Spire and Metropolitan Tower can be seen to the west.

It's ugly so there's little loss in tearing down that theatre

I'd go as far as to say it's a gain.
