That is such an amazing list. I like the fact that the new towers vary so much in architecture and height.

Wow, some of the heights will probably be a little higher for a few of those residential buildings but awesome to see there are so many underway.

Those setbacks will be - believe it or not - private terraces. Unfortunately I can't find the video presentation where I saw this. On Curbed, I believe.

It's confirmed by those screenshots, the crown will be solid. That means that if the 1 397 feet number is true, the building will be taller than 1WTC. Oh my, what a happy day for me

1WTC is 1776ft high. Which is a bigger number than 1397.

I've been wondering about that basically since the design was unveiled and now we have an answer. Skinniest, most terrifying terraces ever! But no doubt those extra handful of outdoor square feet will allow the developers to tack on a couple million dollars per unit.

Don't want to start a huge spire debate, but I side with Kanto on this for the primary reason that it's insane (and inconsistent) for a guyed mast to count towards a building's height. If we're allowing for structures that require cables to ensure that they don't fall over, the KVLY TV mast in North Dakota should be the third tallest building in the world by CTBUH's measurements.

Actually 1402 feet to the communications rings which you can walk on if you want to get really technical.

But really who cares both buildings are very similar in height.

Well, I would cathegorize the comm rings as an open air lattice crown and those are not counted towards roof height, but you are right that only few people (me being one of them) care about height to such a detail as to compare buildings with small height differences

That is also the reason why I am about to go studying engineering and not architecture. I'm a number cruncher so numbers always were very important to me

1WTC is about 10 times more massive in terms of floor area. This tower will look like a needle when put next to 1WTC.

It will for sure rise fast, maybe even faster than 432, so that's great.

We should change the title to 1397 feet or 426 meters

Best design in nyc?...I loved what they did with incorporating bronze to the north and south side glass facade; and what they did with the shear walls on east and west side is brilliant...When i think terra cotta I think the beautiful pre - war decorated alwyn court, possibly an inspiration for that material for this tower

I completely agree with you. This building is the best example of post modern architecture inspired by art deco anywhere in the world. Buildings that attempt such a combination usually end up a kitch, however this building is a masterpiece. This is how it should be done

I think what impresses me most about SHoP (that presentation really hammered it home) is their sense of historical and civic responsibility. They're still going to make their clients boatloads of money, but it's not like they're clear-cutting the Amazon to do it. Add to that their cutting edge, 21st Century designs and no wonder they're so hot right now. This is win-win architecture.
