Took a friend yesterday to all the sites in the area that have gone tall or in prep . He loved seeing 432 Park and One 57 ... looked like things were really dug up for 220, just starting on 217, we both couldn't believe how narrow 111 is and how tall a building would come out of such a skinny lot . He saw the rendition though pictured outside and was amazed, really loved it. First time I had ever been to all those sites together and decided to check up on em all at once!

Seems like a few of us were in the area yesterday. I noticed that the completion date was set for June 2017, not 2016 as previously mentioned. That puts its construction timeframe in line with 432 park, about 2.5 years or so.
Also didn't realize how deep 220CPS hole is, seems like they also started digging on the other side of Nordstrom so things are moving along everywhere.

2016 may have been an initial target, but i would have been very quick given that construction hasn't even started yet.

2016 could be the topping out date, with everything else taking till 2017 to finish?

Here's a more clearer pic from SSP.

Seeing it up close for the first time it's just incredible how tall a building will rise from such a narrow lot. My friend who I was showing around all the Central Park area projects looked at this lot and said in amazed disbelief "hell, no!" I just smiled and giggled in delight how crazy cool it's going to look!

It's definitely a marvel, although walking by the site is kind of deceptive. Since the tower will extend into the Steinway courtyard, it'll be nearly twice as wide as this sliver of a lot.

Not sure if this has been posted yet but if it has, I'm bringing it back!

New Renderings: 111 West 57th Street

I'm not sure, but I think that last one wasn't a new rendering. But the first picture makes the tower look so dominant.

The sides and back are the most exciting parts of this tower IMO.

OT-

Possible Development site by Extell adjacent to the Steinway??

Extell has assemblage with 115 – 117 West 57th street and owns the sites behind it reaching to 58th street. It’s a narrow site though, Extell use to have interest with 119 W 57th , but not sure anymore. Maybe they still have interest in some capacity.

But what would they do with it? Is it directly behind 111 West?

Maybe another cantilever design? They're probably waiting for 217 atm; much like how 217 started coming into fruition once One57 was growing

Hold it........... would it work two huge towers so close together? Extell seems to want to have a dominant presence there... the two buildings next to Steinway are nothing special so wouldn't care about losing them but if this is built goodness the spacing of these two, 217 and 432 Park and 220 would seem a little too close in? And we're not yet even talking of 31 W57th which will certainly be forthcoming...and the Park Lane project. I don't even remember this parcel ever entering the conversation.... wow.

The front will make it look the tallest from street level. One straight surface extended to the pinnacle, as well as the thinness making it look taller.

I'm pretty sure Extel used the airrights from those buildings for One57, which is on the same block.
