Actually there may be no cantilever! Ok.. maybe a small one. it's really remarkable where the actual tower is going to rise. Amazing.

What a striking design. Surely this will be a new icon for the vertical city of Gotham. A tower that almost seems to be curving forwards due to those setbacks. What a wonderful illusion that the architect has implemented! Bravo!

Now here's a question: will the main tower actually be accessible from Steinway? Or will the base of it essentially be walled off from the inside of the old building? If they do indeed connect I'd be very curious to see how SHoP handles the transition from one to the other on the inside.

I'd be surprised if they did.

I just love the way they carved out this lot. What madman thought it up?? It's going to look so awesome from the street.

Steinway should become a high-end hotel. This would be an amazing lobby.

Yes. Even the Steinway tower itself would be good for hotel rooms. It's about 10 to 15 stories.

I think they've said it will be used as a performance/cultural space or something similar. I'll have to check again, but I think I saw that written somewhere at the SkyscraperMusueum Exhibition.

Yes there will be access from the Steinway to the new tower through the rotunda in Steinway Hall. It was mentioned a while back during their presentation with land marks I believe. I just have to locate the source.

I am glad to see some action at this site! Probably my second favorite tower on Billionaire's Row after Nordstrom.

It still looks like it's just one man digging up his garden with just that digger

assuming to save costs the developer is only using that one guy and his digger to construct it, I am guessing it will only take about, say, 500 years to finish it...assuming he works weekends and public holidays.
