Based upon those graphics, Chrysler's tower portion, which is all that's visible in the skyline (the much thicker first 20 floors obviously are not visible) isn't much thicker than Steinway's -- if at all.

More privacy if there is one apartment per floor

Honestly I think that everyone, except for born contrarians and the criminally insane, can agree that this is the most beautiful proposal for a supertall in New York.

Only two elevators? Hope people won't have to wait too much to arrive to his unit!

The elevators are just for guests. Residents use the teleportation booths.

This building has the potential to become famous.

That's been Candy & Candy's big gripe about NYC towers: not enough elevators, especially for moving work crews redoing apartments. But with so few units, how many more would they need?

Yeah, even maybe in lower floors there is some space for another elevator, because maybe this floor print is from a higher level. Even maybe top levels are duplex...

But I think peak hours there will be a little bit of rush hour.

I doubt it because there will be so few units.

Remember that most floors won't even have an elevator stop. Only the smallest units have one full floor. The largest units have up to four full floors.

Do they got four full floors or two floors with double ceiling heigth?

If two elevators are enough for 45 units depends on how they use it.
Does it stop on every floor to pick people up, or is it exclusivly to one person at the time and brings them straight up to their appartment or down the lobby?

Ok, didn't know there were so many multiple floor units. So this makes sense now

Leaving aside 2WTC, which dumps all over this building, you still have the Nordstrom tower, which is better proportioned, and Tower Verre, which does the whole narrow and thin thing way more successfully.

There's no need to artificially boost this tower. It is superb, and I think far more elegant than most of the rest - if that's even a metric people appreciate anymore. But the most beautiful proposal? I think you're mad.

The reason why I think this is the most beautiful is mainly for its facade! It's a one of a kind, incredibly detailed and plays with the light from the sun

As well as it's stepped design and sharp crown which reminds me of the throne from Game of Thrones

I have to agree with everyone else and say for me personally this probably is one of the best proposals out there right now.

But once 2 WTC starts...

I think Nordstrom is, if the most recent render is correct, going to be loved and regarded as a graceful, soaring, elegant tower. 432 Park with its deceptively plain fašade still has its impressive height and sleek geometric form. However, Steinway is the most striking because it really looks not only a beautiful tower but a larger than life work of art with its fašade and setbacks and because of that may well be the best of all so far... I'd love to see 31 W57 or Park Lane do even better but I just don't see how. It just looks unique, it really stays with you and I can't wait to see it actually realized in the next couple of years!

Nordstrom will only be loved by skyscraper nerds, and that's about it. Name me one glassy tower in NYC over 1000 ft that has the support of popular opinion. WTC if anything is an anomaly, though it has it's own massive group of detractors.

Add to that Nordstrom's location right on the park, and it's doomed to be hated, just like TWC. Steinway is the only one that has a remote chance of being loved any time soon. 30 years down the road will obviously be a different game altogether.

I think you're judging too harshly... some will hate Nordstrom but I don't think the shadow hating NIMBYs will care for Steinway, either. I also wish Tower Verre's height had not been reduced by 200 ft with its several much taller neighbors. Would have impacted the skyline then other than locally s nicely.

I get you though for the most part about glassy skysrapers.... the ones around Time Square will never be loved, some are nice to a point like Bank of America but don't have real warmth or heart. Even the HY Time Warner Tower while I think will be stunning and has really nice angles is still more going to be liked more by skyscraper enthusiasts than loved. I think having an observatory really will help it out a bit. I think the only clear towers with the chance to really become beloved icons yet to rise(of the so far expected ones) will be One Vanderbilt and WTC2. However I think the new "classy glassy" elegance of Nordstrom could make it something of a hit with more people than you think far sooner than you think. Maybe it's just more my hope lol as a skyscraper enthusiast!
