Hope you're right. They sure won't be going anywhere anytime soon!

Add to that Nordstrom's location right on the park, and it's doomed to be hated, just like TWC. Steinway is the only one that has a remote chance of being loved any time soon. 30 years down the road will obviously be a different game altogether.
I think that everyone will love Nirdstrim. If the final design is largely what we've seen, it looks amazing, and since it will be among the tallest towers in the world, it will attract attention. Everyone notices 432, and its roof is 100' shorter than Nirdstrom will be. Also, I suspect that Nordstrom will have a surreal LED lighting scheme at night.

I thought it was common knowledge that average people only like the Chrysler and Empire State Buildings (the only two skyscrapers they heard of, but can't tell apart from each other) and hate everything else.

I don't know anyone who is against tall buildings. IMO you are confusing the crazy community boards and NIMBY local politicans with "popular opinion".

90% of people have no opinion, don't care, or are fine with new towers.

Must be close to 30 ft though.
Nice to see the old foundations of neighboring buildings on the left side.

Great video featuring Greg Pasquarelli and other ShOP architects. Check out the great images at 19:14

This will be a stunning 1,400' sculpture!

As expected, this 1350' design is well outdated.

This is the new design, with the more ornate crown and gaps in the northern facade. It's probably taller as well ~1400' :

Put a few wind turbines inside the top and help it generate some of it's own power. Every little bit helps. Someday perhaps it will become the norm.

In the video they discussed sunlight when speaking about the crown. Perhaps solar energy is a possibility.

Man I can't wait until this is built.

I hope they will actually make 'Steinway Tower' the official name. Addresses aren't memorable.

Greg Pasquerelli states in the video that it's approximately 1,400' tall.

All these buildings are going to be known by identifying names... who talks about the Empire State Building, the Chrysler Building...practically any major landmark by their street address, with very rare exceptions?

I LOVE Steinway... maybe slightly more in the old renders but really liking the new one as well. It definitely is one of the boldest, most innovative looking towers especially on the three sides not facing Central Park... I have to get a closer look at the glass wall on that side which looks to me at first glance as the only slightly underwhelming part.

Highly unlikely. The most upscale buildings in NYC use street addreses, which are considered much more memorable.

Everyone knows 15 CPW or 740 Park or One Fifth. If they had some cheesy building name they would be much less memorable.
