I'm not talking about prewar junk, I am talking about things like Essex house, 1350 Broadway, 1501 Broadway, etc.

But you said anything prewar. Anything built before the 40s was, in fact, prewar.

Those ugly two-story shacks covered in ugly plastic signs and crumbling brick, pre-war or not, should all be candidates for demolition.

Unless they pull some Heng Sha nonsense, and go second tier.

Seriously though, you'd think some part of Manhattan would be double decker.

Here's how the scene appeared 80 years ago, with Essex and Hampshire Houses, as well as Steinway Hall, already in place:

If you look very closely, in the lower left corner there's someone thinking about protesting against these crazy tall new buildings and the shadow they cast on the park

LOL, that's funny! I do have misgivings about the buildings being geared towards billionaires but not with the designs... I really love Steinway and think Nordstrom will really look impressive. I'd like to see if the shadow thing is a real one or a greatly overstated problem that only will register occasionally and not in times of the year it will make it noticeable to the public.

Sorry. Nothing to see here! While "Boobs Kowalski" was still trying to dig with his single digger, three others were actively trying to stop me from photographing the site, either putting their hands in the way or sliding the gate back and forth. They have only made it about 5 or 10 feet deeper in a month.

Can anyone get new pictures from the site, even a street view ? Would be much appreciated...

Now that 1 WTC and One57 are pretty much done and 432 Park Avenue has been topped out, this site is now on my top 5 of the most intriguing & most anticipated constructions in the world !

...If only Boobs & co. would get things going...

flying cars might just be a product of this massive tall building boom throughout the planet. In an unforeseeable amount of time from now of course. Then again, we already have helicopters...
