Milans cathedral is absolutely gorgeous. The details are just superb. It's my favorite cathedral in the world along with St Mark's Basilica in Venice.

Under the Duomo cathedral, San Giovanni ad Fontem baptistry, IV century, paleochristian archeological site of roman age

not many cities have underground parkings in the city center with roman archeological remains... this one is in Piazza Meda:

Bonino da Campione's Bernabò Visconti tomb statue, a world-class masterpiece, XIV century. Once it was in San Giovanni in Conca church, now you can see it in the Museums of the Castle:

a short video about Sant'Ambrogio basilica's external quadriportico, a sort of a roman and romanesque age open air museum.
The basilica is a must see and a world-class true gem of romanesque architecture:

ok this one isn't a church but it is so beautiful I have to post, it is the Biblioteca di Belle arti, in the Palazzo di Brera, near the world renown Brera Art Museum, where you can find lots of iconic paintings from Raffaello (raphael), caravaggio, titian, mantegna, bramante, Bellini, hayez and so on, it is definitely a museum that worth the visit.

This is the Library:

I continue the off topic for some more images of Milan from above, where you can see the very regular circle-shape structure of the urban fabric of Milan, a main feature of the city:

as you see, the lack of huge rivers and mountains or sea or lakes led to the creation of a very circular village, town and nowadays a circular city...there are many round street defining the cities, called "cerchie", each one enclosing portions of the city dating back from different historical periods...
