Are you truly drawing a conclusion about the height of the project from a vague concept layout? It'll probably take months or even more than 1 year to see the first actual proposals.

even crazier, when shun hing square was built it was the tallest building in the world just after sears and the world trade center. but just a matter of time and it will only look like a filler in the skyline.

The bullet shaped tower is a concept proposal by TFP Farrells for Kingkey for reference only. Its height is designed at 666 meters.

Kingkey is now looking at multiple new designs for the plot, the new designs have great variety in them, ranging from 480m twins to a standalone 841m, nothing is finalised at this stage.

This building is huge. If built, Shenzen will have a very futuristic skyline.

Yeah, though with a building that height, especially if it's not surrounded by a cluster of other huge towers (like Qianhai Tower would be if it was built), you gotta put a lot of effort into a stellar, iconic design, at least in my opinion.

At any case, since Shenzhen is running out of land, soon or late they'll have to fill the city with 200m+ residential towers. The city will become a skyscraper ocean sooner than we think.

I've been dreaming of Sky City 1000 being built in Shenzen the last few years.

I would love to see some maps on this. It always looks like Shenzhen can grow endlessly. How much space is currently left and where?

Shanghai Tower won't hold the title of the tallest building in China for more than a few months, soon after it is completed it will be outmarched by the Wuhan Greenland Center and especially by the Sky City in Changsha, and Shanghai has no new supertall project. Second tier cities are where the prospect and the money are right now, in first tier cities the land value has become way too high for them to be able to build supertalls/megatalls all the time.

It is precisely high land value what should encourage building taller. Shanghai's skyscraper death is a total mystery to me.

Probably going through a kind of "consolidation phase" after a time of rapid growth. All development (or evolution) in nature as well as in human society is kind of cyclic. Look at New York - it also went through a "skyscraper stagnation" after a phase of rapid growth an is only now back on track. Hopefully the same will happen in Shanghai with new proposals popping up again in a few years (and hopefully without the creation of Chinese NIMBYs ) .
