They didn't mentioned a source.
I'd like to point out how MASSIVE this project is, apart from the landmark towers and the supertall beside KK100, there are still more than 15 +200m residential and commerical towers planned over the urban villages plus a+250m office tower in the extreme far left. The Grand Theater Area will look like be the center of the universe.

Will the current Grand Theater be preserved, renovated or demolished ? I didn't noticed any mention about in the previous posts.

^ Demolished and re-built. In the render above, you can see the low, strangely shaped building in between Platinum and Kingkey - that's the current location of Grand Theatre.

This might have been quietly cancelled or atleast postponed indefinitely recently
According to this article the present storm around Kaisa and the recent anti corruption campaign have led kingkey to disband the internal urban renewal project department or atleast reorganized it.

You mean manage to transform the whole city in a few years while a small number of high-profile projects get cancelled or revised? Yeah, I have no problem with that.

(Ping An height cut does legitimately annoy me though)

Well Shenzhen has literally dozens of 200m+ U/C now and it shows no signs of slowing with the large new CBDs launched. I'm not going to say it's not a bad cancellation but Shenzhen is still the most booming Chinese city by far and to compare it to Chongqing is a little ridiculous (not to mention that Chongqing still developed immensely during its supposed "bust").

I agree, chongqing pulled hardly any of it's supertalls of, in shenzhen we have over 10 U/C and many on prep works. Some of the projects are just bound to fail with the amount of projects launched.

As long as they don't announce some 150m building in its place, the plot will still be available in the future when demand is there.

well the article is mostly speculation but it seems like it is a matter of the costs to redevelop the villages around the hotel that is the largest problem, maybe they can downsize the development and just redevelop the old hotel where the tallest tower would be located. There is no permanent residents and landlords to buy out in a hotel which would make it much cheaper to redevelop.

Shenzhen Kingkey Group, which developed the 100-storey KK100 tower (formerly known as the Kingkey 100) is reported to be under investigation for illicit land deals with government cadres. One of the officials said to be involved is the former head of the city’s Longgang District who was implicated in the troubles of fellow Shenzhen developer Kaisa Group Holdings.

To be fair the rumours coming out of kingkey is pretty pessimistic, but maybe there is a glimmer of hope?

It says 2.7 million square meters and 400.000 wan cost = 400.000.0000 = 4.000.000.000 RMB

I think it might be the contract for excavation....
