I'm fine with a height decrease since being China it will still easily beat 400m, but that design looks horrible without the higher height and clearer twist.

I found it ridiculous to tear down the 3 buildings hotel-bank complex to make room for something which will prove to not be so spectacular as anticipated. Also because on the other side of Shennan road, straight ahead from the current proposed plot, on Hongling Road and Hongbao Road there are still lots (probably hundreds) of crappy low rise hand-shake swamps which have to be considered first before the demolition of Oriental Regent hotel which is still imposing. If the plot where the crappy swamps are located would be clearead, would make room for the entire project. But of course is not on Shennan road, and this might downgrade the value.

if it's a new landmark it should be taller than Kingkey.

Who says 300m???
Look at the render it's as high as Kingkey 100 (tower on the left), and Kingkey is 440m high.

well pingan is quite far away (>5km), so even with only 500m this building would be an iconic landmark and visibly the tallest in that area.

I'm pretty sure it's not the final design. Even still in that render the main tower is significantly higher than KK100, so at least 500m high

In bearb's photo, looks like the development covers a much larger area. The Grand Theatre at the corner of Shennan Dong Lu and Hongling Rd looks to be rebuilt or remodeled with overhead pedestrian walkways across both Shennan and Hongling. Wonder why when they already have 'subways' across both(underground pedestrian tunnels). You can also go across Shennan Dong Lu from Kingkey mall to Mix-C where the subway station is located. The area behind the skyscraper towards Binhe being discussed that is currently a residential area looks like several tall buildings are to be built. Looks like another skyscraper in front of Kingkey's existing skyscraper and another skyscraper fronting Hong Bao Lu. Now it looks so-so without anything unique or striking---hmmmm? I kinda liked their original plan!

Looks like at least 550 m main building to me, but it's definitely just a placeholder, a bad copy of that ugly modernist stock exchange - let's 'educate' their management on the benefits of going back to timeless art deco or something... Kingkey is all powerful now, and I'm sure they'll try to beat Ping'an in height - the site can support well above 666 m tower. The second tower next to KK100 looks like 330 m or so tall... 333 m as half of 666 ?
Anyway, Shenzhen seems to have even more 'secret powers that be' influences besides the Futian CBD plan with that 'eye'... some 90% of recent apartment complexes in the city are, guess what, 33 levels in height -from Bao'an to Longgang, name it

coz some people was always complaining about the previous design will destroy the "feng shui" thing of the shennan blvd. blah blah blah...

so now they have a much lighter compartment across the shennan blvd.

they just can't get the beauty of architecture in the previous design..

shame

broad and muilt-level skywalks are epicly futuristic. Shenzhen and China as a whole should have more of them.

Sky-walks are terrible ideas.

Wherever one is placed, the area underneath is psychologically killed and no one wants to go there. Over hangs do the same.

I think it is still 666 m. Judging from the picture, it looks taller than kingkey (440m), and is further away. Some basic math still gets something over 600 m.

****Not to be an ass, but I hope some of you will get some of your math skills out.

On the original rendering, the tower is not much taller than KingKey, and it seems to be a closer angle. Besides, this rendering shows a podium in which the main tower sits on (Another 50-100 m) If we estimate the main tower to be 550m tall (100m more than kingkey, then the tower will be 600-650 m tall altogether.

The design has not changed (remember how the tower is kind of boxy). I expect that this is just a different angle, or a placeholder, or just a poor rendering.

The latest render is misleading. From it, Sun Hing looks almost as tall as Kingkey. It should be at least 50 m lower than it is pictured.
