Interesting concept/design. Vegas maybe just not too hip about it in a plain field in Venice.

Wouldn't that spoil the Italian polder landscape a bit?

This looks like something they would build in Baku White City.

just a bit. But if it will be built in marghera, an old industrial-chemical area, i'm agree with that, even if the project from an architectual point of view is horrible.
i mean, a private investor is requested for the land reclamation (or drainage, don't know which is the right word for this ) of that area.

The Palais Lumière was initially planned for Boulogne (near Paris), but such a huge project had no chance to see the light there given that nimbies & associations are ferociously opposed to tall buildings. For instance, Jean Nouvel has unveiled a project to rehabilitate the Ile Seguin in Boulogne as well, around 4 towers (whose tallest was 140m) were supposed to get built there...A few months later, he was back to the drawings as his short towers got all attacked non stop via numerous appeals...so, just imagine the trauma such a 240m tall project like Palais Lumière would have caused among those damned nimbies/associations...

This can't be serious! Isn't Italy a country of good taste? This would be bad even in Dubai, so next to Venice this seems to be out of question...

i hope it would be built in moscow, as cardin said if venice province won't accept this building, but all local institutions are pushing hard for the creation of this ugly starship. someone said that italy is a country of good taste and this skyscraper is not possible in our territory, but financial crisis swept away all the dogmas and "beauty" rules. this is an opportunity for jobs, investments and reclamation of one of the most polluted area in our country.

There is no way this proposal has any chance of ever getting build in Venice!

Rumors have it this tower will be devoted to Italian fashion. Style is the only thing Italy is left with to sell. Err, or is it?

it looks fairly bad, but you shall see how it looks like that area now...a industrial wasteland

It's a great opportunity to restart the venitian economy and to attract some much-needed foreign investmnet in the lagoon.

I hope the rest of the huge Marghera industrial area can be reconverted as a playground for the rich, without dubai style but much more european-level

But you have to start somewhere, and this could be a good start
