The Imperial Alonzo Photography Thread
I might as well PM Medo about this but I thought I might as well put it here to make people feel like their opinions actually matter.
Camera needed. £200ish budget. I don't want something enormous (ie, smaller than your camera, Medo). Ok, go. I value all your opinions |

I take it with that price range you are not thinking of a DSLR?

Well, I can go higher for one (I am utterly clueless about cameras to be honest) but I would really find it hard to justify anything over the 300 mark, especially when I will be needing a new laptop soon as well.

The Panasonic Lumix range seem to have universally good reviews.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Panasonic-Lu...2678266&sr=1-3 You are going to struggle to get a DSLR for £200. |

I concur, looks like a good camera for the price.

There were a few Fujifilm cameras that I was going to recommend but they didn't have a rechargeable battery, this one does. Image quality of this camera is really good too. Just buy it. Also get an 8GB sd card for it and you're ready to go. [/thread] |

A DSLR has a much bigger pixel sensor for capturing light, ergo they tend to take better quality pictures, they also have faster shutter speeds, making them ideal for capturing fast moving objects, also they tend to have fully manual options, so that you can control every aspect of your photography. Also a DSLR has the option to use different lenses.
But that doesn't mean the one I recommended you is a bad camera. It's 'bad' compared to a DSLR, that goes without saying. But it also has advantages that a DSLR can't match. For example if you wanted to use a super high zoom lens on a dslr (i.e. the equivalent of the one on that panasonic) you would have to spend thousands. It's an excellent camera for architecture photography, and good for zooming on unsuspecting peoples hundreds of metres away. Buy it. |

Also I recommend this SDHC card
http://www.amazon.co.uk/SanDisk-Secu...2679866&sr=1-4 good for when you are taking videos, as it's fast and has decent capacity. |

Yes, of course.
But even on a DSLR I rarely do things manually. |

I feel like I should make a dedication to my old camera. Broke, or I realised it was broke last April. Hadn't used it for a year before that. However, in its 5 years it travelled the world with me taking thousands of pictures. Good bye, old boy

It does actually still turn on and show stored pictures but there must be a fault with the connection to the lens as it is just black when you try to take a picture. Very good reliable camera for what it was.

My Fujifilm Finepix F700 which I bought in 2003 still takes pictures but they all come out pink. I think it's a bit gay.

Mine is one of the most cheapest on the market, but though fine that i even make stop motions with it.
So, you can choose Samsung ST300 with 10 mpx.... I see, you dont need professional cam, right
