when you take the square footage of this thing and divide it by the amount of units, you end up with over 1,200 square feet a unit. this is almost certainly a luxury development. (the average for most toronto condos is 600-800 square feet) this is even more likely because it's on top of a holt renfrew department store.

Surely if built to be built by the Irish. We build everything in different countries apart from our own.

Wow, this tower could be anywhere from 280m to 380m. We need to see the renderings before we can make any sort of judgement without the height statistics given to us. For example if the tower is higher end and uses the floor heights of the Ritz Carlton it could be anywhere from 310m to 335m depending on whether or not there is some sort of roof element, and a spire could be added on top of that!

Also, is the 8 story podium included in the over all height of 83 stories, because it does not appear that way based on the description, if it is indeed separate than at 91 stories (the 8 podium stories being commercial and most likely much height floor heights) than 380m is completely viable assuming roof element and spire lol. If we go with standard condo scraper floor heights and a roof element or spire (not both) we are looking at roughly 300m with podium included in height and about 340m with podium being counted separately, or take away the spire and we are around 315 to 320 lol.

There are way to many variables to look at, I hope the rendering and height info come in fast :S

We don't know the height yet, so it's a bit early to declare this a supertall. It'll definitely be close though and I can't wait to find out more.

This thread seems a bit premature to me. At least wait for a render.

I'm girding myself for disappointment and am guessing 280 meters.

If the podium brings it to a total of 91 floors it will be well over 300, and even if it used LOW floor heights which most likely isn't the case due to other evidence the lowest this tower can logically be is about 286m...the lowest. I chose to be an optimist instead

Not to mention this will be on the current Holt Renfrew site (and they will occupy a large majority of the podium). I can't see a company as luxurious as Holt allowing anything other than the highest quality of tower above them.

If this project wants to move ahead without a hitch me need a big name tied to this. Time to look outside of Toronto architects. Foster, Hadid, Nouveau or even the currently captivating Gensler.

we all have. and judging by the fact that this will probably be a luxury development, chances are this will be as supertall, and thats why i made a thread.

Over on SSP they are confidently declaring it's 75 + 8 = 83, that 91 is a typo.

Well I should clarify that the 286m comment i made is the minimum height i can see it being at 83 stories podium included not 91.

What typo are they talking about? Nobody has written 91 anywhere, its simply the wording of the proposal that leads us to believe the tower is 91 stories, and if thats the typo then somebody goofed lol

Assuming this is what the official proposal says, "It will include one 83-storey residential tower rising from an 8-storey commercial podium", then like any other proposal in the past that has used the same type of wording the tower is actually 91 stories in total, if the tower is ACTUALLY 83 in total then whoever stood there explaining this proposal to the city was probably a bit embarrassed... just speculating lol

And I am telling you that the suggestion that it should be interpreted as 91 stories was summarily slapped down. You try to talk some sense into them.
