Raglan is a small beachside town located 48 km west of Hamilton, New Zealand on State Highway 23. The population was 2,637 at the 2006 New Zealand Census in 1,068 households, with a median age of 37.

Raglan’s a surfing mecca for wave riders, with three world-class point breaks. Manu Bay is said to offer the longest left hand rides on the planet and featured in Bruce Brown’s 1964 classic surf film The Endless Summer and in the 2010 movie Last Paradise. Raglan has hosted a world championship surfing event at Ruapuke beach and is home to a learn-to-surf school.

The area has a high proportion of environmentalists. This is evidenced by a high vote for the Green Party. It is also a very artistic community with quirky shops and galleries.

Awesome! Useless to say those pictures are great, colorful and warm. I wish we were there, sitting in that cozy wooden bar in Raglan, drinking a strong coffee and watching the world pass by.

Raglan seems to be a very peaceful and calm place to visit, and I can sense that visiting such a place truly oozes one's mind and soul after months (or years!) of living the busy and crowded city life. Even though the town provides so many things to see and do, I can truly sense the difference between Raglan and Auckland in every way and form, most especially the simplicity of the buildings in the downtown area. What I'm most impressed about is the amount of greenery and natural backdrops that make the town a lovely place for a short vacation, if not a week's stay: I'll tell you, those beautiful cliffs and coastline surely makes me want to take a good vacation in that town! Even those little signs give me a cute impression (the "Is your child buckled in" sign and the street signs with arrows pointing to where things are) of Raglan... I'll tell you: it looks like a wonderful place to be in!

Impressive shots again, Sydney! Keep those wonderful pics coming!

Cheers mate, Raglan has a very hippy feel to it and I think that people from San Fran will be able to relate
