Thanjavoor bus Stand to get a facelift

The new bus stand in Thanjavur would be given a facelift soon, said Savithiri Gopal, chairperson, Thanjavur municipality.

She said works would be taken up to prevent stagnation of sewage water at the bus stand. Roads inside the bus stand would be renovated and a park would be set up in the back of the bus stand.

The tiruchy Corporation has put several free urinals, for men and women, and some of them are waterless toilets. The waterless toilets, as the name suggests, do not require flushing after every use.

TFS, now if you come to the bus stand you can see everywhere Free Toilets.... Its good, but the maintanence is poor, where theres water leak from it, and they have even placed it in the central divider near Madurai&South bay in open and the pedestrian walks became worst, needs good sanitation. Also hope soon they keep it allover the city!

A Bus Stand in Coimbatore
(cleaner for almost more than two years)

இந்த bus standன் சுத்தம் எல்லாம் ஆரம்ப ஜோர் என்று தான் நினைத்தேன். ஆனால் அத்திப் பூத்தார் போல, ஐனாதிபதி பதவிக்கு திடீர் என்று அப்துல் கலாம் வந்தது போல இப்படி ஒரு நல்லது கோயம்புத்தூரில் நடந்தே விட்டது. கடந்த இரண்டு வருடங்களுக்கும் மேலாக இந்த பேருந்து நிலையத்தை கவணித்து வருகிறேன். ஆரம்பித்தை விட இப்போது இன்னும் நன்றாக பராமரித்து வருகின்றார்கள். சுத்தம் மட்டும் என்று இல்லை, நடக்க இயலாதவ்ாகளுக்கு வீல் சேரில் ஆரம்பித்து, பயணிகளுக்கான trolly, உள்ளேயே இருக்கும் புறக்காவல் நிலையம் வரை பட்டையை கிளப்பி விட்டார்கள். கோவை வழியாக உதகமண்டலம் (ஊட்டி) வரும் போது அவசியம் இங்கு இறங்கி ஒரு காப்பியாவது குடித்துவிட்டு போக வேண்டுகிறேன்.

கோயம்பேடு பேருந்து நிலையத்தை விழுங்கும் கடைகள் :பயணிகள் கடும் அவதி
கோயம்பேடு : கோயம்பேடு பேருந்து நிலைய வளாகத்தில் கடைகளின் பரப்பை வியாபாரிகள் அதிகரித்துக் கொண்டே வருவதால், பயணிகள் பெரும் சிரமத்திற்குள்ளாகி வருகின்றனர்.
கோயம்பேடு பேருந்து நிலையத்தை பராமரித்து, கவனித்து வரும் சென்னை பெருநகர் வளர்ச்சிக் குழுமம் (சி.எம்.டி.ஏ.,) நாள்தோறும் வந்து செல்லும் பயணிகளின் வசதிக்காக, அங்கு சிற்றுண்டி, உணவு வகைகள், குடிநீர், பத்திரிகைகள் உள்ளிட்ட பொருட்கள் கிடைக்கும் வகையிலான கடைகளை அமைத்தது.
இப்படி, பேருந்து நிலையத்தில் உள்ள ஆறு நடைபாதைகளிலும், இரண்டு நடைபாதைகளுக்கு இடையே மையப்பகுதியில் 15க்கும் மேற்பட்ட கடைகள் உள்ளன.
உள்ளே வெளியே
சதுர அடி கணக்கில் தான் கடைகள், வியாபாரிகளுக்கு ஒதுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன. பரப்பளவிற்கேற்ப கடை உரிமையாளர்களிடம் இருந்து மாதத்திற்கு ஒருமுறை வாடகையை சி.எம்.டி.ஏ., நிர்வாகம் வசூலிக்கிறது.
இந்நிலையில், சமீப காலமாக பேருந்து நிலைய வளாகத்தில் உள்ள பெரும்பாலான கடைகள் மூன்று அடி முதல் ஏழு அடி வரை கடைகளின் பரப்பளவை நடைபாதைகளில் அதிகரித்துள்ளனர். மேலும் சிலர், உள்ளே ஒரு கடை, வெளியே ஒரு கடை என்ற அளவிற்கு ஆக்கிரமித்துள்ளனர்.
பயணிகள் அவதி
இதனால், "லக்கேஜ்' எடுத்துச் செல்லும் பயணிகள் கடைகளைக் கடந்து பேருந்துக்குச் செல்வதற்குள் பெரும் போராட்டமே நடத்த வேண்டியுள்ளது. குறிப்பாக, பேருந்து நிலையத்தில் பயணிகள் கூட்டம் அதிகரிக்கும் போது, பேருந்து நிற்கும் இடத்தில் காத்திருப்பதிலும் சிக்கல் ஏற்படுகிறது.
அதிகாரிகள் அலட்சியம்

Expansion of Vellore new bus stand to be studied

Vellore and Tiruvannamalai districts had their share of new schemes in the 343 announcements made by Chief Minister Jayalalithaa at the end of a three-day conference of Collectors and police officers in Chennai on Wednesday.

Some of the highlights of the announcements included conducting feasibility studies for the expansion of the Vellore new bus stand, setting up of an Information Technology park at Vellore and preparing a Detailed Project Report for developing the 14-km-long Girivalam path in Tiruvannamalai by widening it and providing emergency lanes.

Residents give thumbs up to new bus stand in Karur

Residents have given the thumbs up to Chief Minister Jayalalithaa’s recent announcement of a new mofussil bus stand for Karur. The existing Muthukumarasamy bus stand in the heart of the town is bursting at its seams, craving a new spacious site.

While efforts were mounted several years ago to identify a proper site for the new bus stand, at least for mofussil buses, the proper place still eludes grasp.

Several sites, including Sukkaliyur, Thoranakkalpatti, Gandhigram and Vennamalai, were doing the rounds but nothing much moved.

The absence of a notable and powerful political figure in official position only added to the woes.

“Now we have a leading figure in Transport Minister V. Senthil Balaji who seems to wield some influence as is seen from the Chief Minister’s announcement.

Perhaps this is the time to make full use of the situation and find a suitable place for the new bus stand,” say transport sector sources.

Reasonable urgency must be shown in the matter, cutting across political considerations, for the overall welfare of the public.

A new bus stand for Karur is a reality and everybody must ensure that the best place is chosen, they add.

Industry sources also welcome the proposal saying while the existing bus stand could be retained for town buses and mini buses while a new site could be identified in the town’s neighbourhood for locating the mofussil bus stand.

The recent past instances in other districts have shown public are happy with two bus stands and there would not be any problem in having them in Karur too, they aver.

The textile sector, that deploys the bulk of unskilled labour from the neighbouring areas is warming up to the idea saying conglomerates such as the textile park or the proposed dyeing units park are in the countryside and logically the new bus stand could be in the periphery of Karur town, they argue.

The present bus stand came into being around 1987 and is not able to serve the 775 services being operated daily.

Perhaps the idea of establishing the new bus stand at Thirumanilayur on the banks of Amaravathy could take concrete shape hopefully and fructify into a worthy proposal acceptable to all .

திருமங்கலம்: திருமங்கலத்தில் பஸ் ஸ்டாண்ட் இடப்பற்றாக்குறையால் திணறி வரும் நிலையில், புதிய பஸ் ஸ்டாண்ட் அமைப்பதிலும் சிக்கல் ஏற்பட்டுள்ளதால், பயணிகளின் நிலை பரிதாபமாக மாறியுள்ளது.
தற்போதுள்ள பஸ் ஸ்டாண்ட், 2 ஏக்கருக்கும் குறைவான இடத்தில் அமைந்துள்ளதால், நெரிசல் ஏற்படுகிறது. வெளியூர் பஸ்கள் நிற்பதற்கு இடம் இல்லாததால், ராஜாஜி சிலை முதல் போலீஸ் ஸ்டேஷன் வரை நடுரோட்டில் நிறுத்தப்படுகின்றன. பாதுகாப்பற்ற இந்த இடத்தில் பயணிகள் நிற்பதற்கு போதிய இடவசதி இல்லாததாலும், அடிப்படை வசதிகள் இல்லாததாலும், பெறும் அவதிக்குள்ளாகின்றனர். இதனால் புதிய பஸ் ஸ்டாண்ட் அமைக்க, நான்குவழிச்சாலை பைபாஸ் ரோட்டில் காட்டு பத்திரகாளியம்மன் கோயில் அருகில் இடம் தேர்வு செய்யப்பட்டது. 15 ஏக்கரில் அமைக்க திட்டமிட்டு, அரசுக்கு அறிக்கை அனுப்பப்பட்டது. புதிய பஸ் ஸ்டாண்ட் அமைவது குறித்து, சட்டசபையிலும் அறிவிக்கப்பட்டது.திட்டமதிப்பீடு தயாரிப்பிற்கும், நிதிஒதுக்கீடும் செய்வதற்கு காலதாமதம் ஆன நிலையில், பஸ் ஸ்டாண்ட் அமைக்க இடம் கொடுப்பதாக சொன்ன தனியார் நிலத்தின் சொந்தக்காரர்கள் சிலர், தற்போது இடம் கொடுக்க மறுத்து வருகின்றனர். இந்நிலையில், திருமங்கலம் அரசு ஓமியோபதி மருத்துவக் கல்லூரிக்கு அருகில் உள்ள கண்மாய் தற்போது நீர்பிடிப்பிற்கு பயன்படாத நிலையில் அங்கு பஸ் ஸ்டாண்ட் அமைக்க இடம் பார்க்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. இடம் பார்ப்பதற்கே இவ்வளவு காலதாமதம் ஆவதால், எப்போது பஸ் ஸ்டாண்ட் அமைவது திரிசங்கு நிலையில் உள்ளது. நகராட்சி கமிஷனர் முகம்மது சிராஜ் கூறியதாவது:புதிய பஸ் ஸ்டாண்டிற்காக, காட்டுபத்திரகாளியம்மன் கோவில் அருகில் நகராட்சி இடம் 8 ஏக்கர் உட்பட 15 ஏக்கர் நிலம் கையகப்படுத்த முடிவு செய்யப்பட்டது. தற்போது அந்த பகுதிகளில் இடத்தின் மதிப்பு அதிகரித்து வருவதால், இடம் கொடுக்க சிலர் மறுப்பு தெரிவிக்கின்றனர். மேலும், இடம் கையகப்படுத்துவற்கே பல கோடி ரூபாய் தேவைப்படுவதால், ஓமியோபதி கல்லூரி அருகில் உள்ள கண்மாய் புறம்போக்கில் இடம் பார்க்க முடிவு செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளது. இடம் தேர்வு செய்யப்பட்டவுடன் திட்டமதிப்பீடு தயார் செய்யப்பட்டு அரசுக்கு அனுப்பப்படும், என்றார்.
