Let`s move relaxed to the next project. The pump house with the water pumps for all the fountains. It was made to look like a castle.

It is from 1853. In 2010 the Parks Potsdam was playing with the idea of turning the Building into residential like other buildings and renting them out. This idea has been scraped and the building is now used as pump station again. It is a little bit big now with 450 m2 or 5000 sq feet. Because the new electric pumps do not need the chimney or that much space. The Parks and castles Potsdam has no money right now.

It is this building down

Some renovations have started, but just to stop the erosion

This is the water intake.

The water is pumped up the hill, stored in a pond and released for all waterworks like this one:

Or this one

Or like this

The top part

Thanks, Brandenburger!

Anyhow, the saving of that build would be absolutely important!

Thanks, Potsdam-fan!

Let`s move to little Switzerland! Not down south, but here in Potsdam!
Build in the 1880`s there where a small but fine private village of houses in Alpine stile. Most houses have not survived but two houses have been more or less rebuild. Sometimes I don`t understand the owners. They opt for a reconstruction, but decorate the houses different than original. But make your own opinion! The buildings can be redressed later, in some years to come!

The new "rebuild"

The stairs have no Gemutlichkeit! But enough space.

And now some happy pictures of the demolishing from ugly Platten Bau Buildings!

The location is the Garrison Church and Langer Stall rebuilding!

This is the last remaining section of the "Lang Stall" or Long Stable for the Kings Horses. The rest of the building was build in open timberframe but destroyed in the war. Something is going to be build here reusing this front. There is the city demanding housing units under a saddle roof. Modern. There is also the idea of rebuilding the Timberframe build because the "Parks and castle Potsdam" is in need of an called "Lampidarium" for the inside storage of old and wheatear sensitive statues. There are many problems against living here so the Parks Potsdam likes to use the Stable for storage and art shows.

The two Platten Buildings in the back are going to be demolished. They already started with that
The church will be rebuild here, too!!

The software center of the government. They are moving. Building will be flattened

Fire station. Will be leveled like the second ugly house on the right. The other buildings in the street are owned by a city owned landlord. He also has most buildings emptied out, so no complains against this massive rebuild. All old buildings will be renovated. At the end, the city will repave the street after new power, new water, waste water and new media are installed. After that new tenants move in the street. Everything will change, except the old houses!

The front entrance of the church is looking small. The building on the right, owned by the university is empty and will be removed now. This should give us more needed space for the contractors to rebuild the church.

Since we talk about 100 000 000 Euro here, only the church tower will be rebuild first, with option and space to finish the church.

It's amazing to see cities such as Potzdam and Dresden slowly getting their sole back, with those amazing rebuilds. I hope we going to see those rebuild on a bigger scale in cities like Berlin, but also cities were the 60s demolished so many beautiful buildings such as in London and New York.

[QUOTE=The Eagle;135289888]Let`s move to the Norwegian village. The last Kaiser was like many a Norway fan. After Bergen burned down he helped finance and plan the rebuilding of the Norwegian town. 1914, the Kaiser was on vacation in Norway, when the elected Parliament informed him that GB and France had declared war. They had to rush him back on German soil.

It was actualley the city of Aalesund that e helped finance (not Bergen) when it burned down in 1905. The new city lokes like a german city, and i sworth visiting.

Hello, everybody and welcome back for the 2. part of our update.
Sit back and enjoy!

We have some other projects here as well. This is Villa Carlshagen. The Villa was build and finished 1909. After the war she was used as part of the hospital complex next to the Villa. After 1990 the building was empty and its massive park become overgrown. It was 2012 when the German Chamber of Commerce bought the house and park and started to rebuild both very carefully. The Villa will be rebuild inside like in its heyday!

The Villa is the #3

Let`s have a look at Charlotten Strasse 100
The owners are bringing back the original curb appeal, just as we like it!
The statues where not on the roof anymore, but have returned.

Thanks, Spreetunnel!
The four Attica figures are from the Theater scene!

They had their heads too long in the sun!

Looks like, that the whole fašade gets a refreshment, I think!

And the owner of this house, # Charlotten Strasse #109, dating back to the year 1781 (by Mr. Unger) has decided to bring the ground level back to a proper live with its proportions! Pick is from 1981

I've seen the 'Langer Stall' in this thread earlier and I really love the way it used to look, with that ornamental facade and the long, low-ket timber frame behind it. I really hope they will build something that at least honours the old look. An old pic to complete the story:

What makes me really happy here for some reason is how the window second from left is still blanked out. Little features like that I like.

King Frederic Wilhelm the II played himself here Cello!

And the 3rd Dutch part of Potsdam. Some belong to the nursery

Great updates, I was in Potsdam for the first time in the 90s, what a change! Love the new buildings. where I live we would be honoured and proud to have one building with such history and beauty, let alone a whole city with them.

Hello everybody and welcome back!

Charlotten Strasse 100 is finished!

It looks like one building cut in three units. Just noticed: One was added a floor, the middle one is renovated and the right one in need of

And we have here Charlotten Strasse 109

The building gets rebuild the original way. Not like before the war, like common in Germany. This is 1850`s

Thanks Potsdam-fan!

Can you recall the grand opening of the Park Babelsberg?

Well, the wild Boars like to participate with their own skills!

Also found this about the renovation. When I made the joke about the real gold, as you remember, I did not know that they used real gold! I was joking! But see for yourself:

The so called blooming fountain

Apparently it is the real deal. During the works

Thanks Potsdam-fan!

Next renovation will be the main court of the"little monastery"

Tanks Spreetunnel!

Already renovated is the "Grosse Neugierde" or in plain English "big curiosity" (because everyone wonders and/or is supposed to wonder what it is for. One of the many lust buildings in Potsdam) It is located right on the former Reichs Street 1 from the other large Park at "Clienicke".
But it looks good now for sure

picks from Potsdam-fan!

Castle and Parks Clienicke is huge. There are at least another 20 lust and real buildings in need of attention. We will cover that in this tread of course! Many pictures to come. The Park is completely grown over in some areas

There is also a "small curiosity" in Potsdam's forth Park.

From behind

The original documents from a 1825 interior paint-study from famous Mr. Schinkel. This one was selected and used!
