Just ignore he is just talking non-sense as he is probably just a teenager who has nothing better to do.
Hopefully a mod will note that sooner or later.

Shouldn't be a problem, Sapphire is located in the district of Levent, which is on the European side. What I find questionable is placing Baku under Europe.

Exactly, Baku is in the Asian part of Azerbaijan, simple, it should not be classed as, european, If Baku is eligible, then so is Vladivostok, Astana and Ankara!

Maybe you would like to consult a map?

Blue countries are those that cross Europe and Asia, light blue indicates land within Europe, dark blue is land in Asia. Baku is on the dark blue peninsula that juts out into the Caspian Sea, close to Europe, but not in Europe, sorry.

It depends... Unlike your previous examples with Vladivostok and Astana, Caucasus is very often considered either totally in Europe or divided via Caucasian mountains:

That map is not correct, and has simplified the problem. This map shows the internationally recognised border between Europe and Asia, the red line is the current and definitive border, superseding past borders.

I have no problem with Baku, it looks a wonderful place and the flame towers are magnificent, however I cannot ignore geography. Agreed some countries are culturally European, such as Turkey, Georgia and Azerbaijan, even Armenia with no land in Europe can be considered culturally European. This is why we need a clear understanding of what 'European' in the context of this contest means, is it geographic or cultural? By default for me (I am a geographer) 'European' means the European continent, however I can see how others see otherwise.
