Thumbs up VogaLonga 2012

Dear SkyscraperItaly,

This year I will start the Vogalonga Regatta in Venezia and I am in need of information about a few things.

We will be landing at Trevisio Airport and our campsite is at Cavallino Treporti Island. I am wondering what the best way is to get from the airport to the campsite, is that by FS or Bus? We like to keep it as cheap as possible because we are all students with a moderate budget!

Any other hints and tips for our stay in venice are welcome as well!

Greetings from Holland

Timatable (old but it should give you an idea) of the bus service from Treviso Airport to Cavallino. You have to change bus two times!

http://www.atvo.it/images_doc/linee/..._9.01.2012.pdf

Here is the website that you can check for updates (in english)
http://www.atvo.it/index.php?lang=en...d=36&view_pc=!
(Scroll to the bottom of the page and you'll fine a table with the list of the bus lines from Treviso Airport).

Price should be around 12 euro/adult.
No idea where to buy tickets, probably at the bus company booth in the airport (ATVO)

And what about taking the train?
Because 3hrs on bus for that distance is really nasty!

I wouldn't suggest that. Theorically you could take the first coach to Mestre railway station, change to a train or a bus to Venice, then take the water boat to Cavallino, and then another bus to your camping. That would take you way more than 3 hours. Cavallino si pretty detached from both Mestre, which is the venice coach hub, and the Treviso airport.

The only rational way to get from the airport to your camping is by taking the three coaches. Here you can find the current timetables: http://www.atvo.it/images_doc/linee/..._31.05.12).pdf

Inside the airport there is an ATVO booth (open from 7.30 am to 10.30 pm) where you can get your tickets. There is also a vending machine.
