Good article by THE GRID about Yonge and Eglinton - http://www.thegridto.com/life/real-e...reaking-point/

It does mention condos such as NEON, The Berwick, Madison, Allure and E Condos to name a few. You do have more proposals, such as Tridel's 101 Erskine, Minto's 30 Roe, FREED's Artshoppe development, Pemberton's 31 Helendale, 2364 Yonge St. (south of Helendale) and a few rental projects coming into the area as well. There is a lot of activity in the area.

The shorter tower is reallly thin.
I don't know if I like the cladding and the red, I wanna see how it turns out in real life.

If they are built, I hope it will spark some towers with fully red glass cladding to be built.

I'm thrilled that we're seeing a departure from the all glass facade.

New renders on this one. The prominent red is gone, but the towers are still looking sexy. Images courtesy of Urban Toronto.

The 'red' was the only interesting element to these towers. Now we are left with more insipid designs.

sales for the taller tower are above 80%, meaning that this one is a go.

Hopefully they have red lights during the night. The effect could be the same. Red glass doesn't really look that nice during a dull day so I don't think it's that bad that it's gone.

The good news - the permit has been filed to get these bad boys started.

The bad news - Councillor Mr. Matlow thinks he knows what's best for Yonge and Eglinton and got the towers chopped down in height. New heights 58s + 38s.

Newest renderings shows the "red" portion of the tallest tower is back.

Chopping 6 floors is somehow going to accomplish what exactly? Honestly, some of these people just come off as petty people who want to feel like they've gotten their way. He'll likely have a heart attack when the 250m proposals start popping up in this area. Perhaps not this building cycle, but surely the next. But I'm sure hell fight Toronto's growth every inch of the way.

Exactly. If you look at his Twitter account, he thinks he is doing good for Yonge and Eglinton. He goes so far as removing billboards on the street advertising developments (such as Freed's Redpath condo) that are not yet approved by council. And when he gets a development chopped down by a few floors, he believes he is victorious and people in this riding actually commend him for his efforts. He is completely backwards and I can't wait for the day when he is booted from office.

Didn't they reverse that decision recently by increasing the height of the taller building and shortening the short tower?

Not sure which source. These have been revised a number of times, but haven't followed this one for about 4 months now so maybe it got shrunk again.

Yay, Eglinton/Yonge will start looking like part of the central city once these go up. Presently, it feels rather ho hum and sleepy. It would be wonderful if this part of Toronto sees a big enough population jump to one day justify a full scale department store. That's likely 30-40 condo towers down the road though.

May 29th by Roundabout.

Demolition for the shorter (36 storey) tower is just about complete.

Demolition of the store fronts on Yonge St. for the taller (58 storey) are beginning.
