^ How much Somalis are there in Beijing? I think the majority there are either traders or students.

For UK'ers

Documentary about a British Somali model after 18 years away going back to Somalia.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode...ngerous_Place/

Was great and Samira was so down to earth and amusing. Seems like a lovely person
So sad as well, I cried too often watching it

Smh at FGM and the Fathers attitude

^ I'm in America so unless there are some proxies, I can't watch it.

BBC always puts Somalis on a horrible rep though (like 99% of all media) so I don't think I'm missing anything anyway.

What did he teach? It sounds like he was part of the 'bar-ama-baro' campaign to eradicate illiteracy among rural people/nomads.

Yh I watched it, it was interesting to watch but very sad. Certainly puts things in perspective for those of us who have not been there for a while.

I think Samiira handled it well though...

Is anyone following the BBC journalist Simon Reeve's new series on BBC2?

He travels around the countries along the Indian Ocean. This first leg of his journey takes him from South Africa to Mozambique, and on to Zanzibar. On the second leg of his journey, Simon visits Madagascar, Mauritius and the Seychelles. In the third episode he is going to visit Kenya, Mogadishu and Hargeisa, which should be interesting.

Watch it in HD (fullscreen).

^ I watch it with my year 8s on iplayer every Monday. I was looking forward to the third episode which is when he travels to Somalia but unfortunately it didn't come on last Sunday.

Very interesting nevertheless. Simon also makes it a joy to watch.

I honestly didn't go to these details but I think he was a part of a project or something

I was kind of dissappointed at how he approached it all. Apart from South Africa he showed very little of the natural beauty, every day life and natural environment of the places he visited. He focussed to much on talking to individuals and political or pseudo political issues if you ask me rather than exploring and showing the beauty of the places. Overall very dissappointing and the delivery, visual effects/displays, pictures, sound effects were also quite poorly pulled off and he didnt really show anything spectacular or any of the natural beauty.

I was edpecting something like the other video that Lailax posted or even something similar to the BBC's other natural world documentaries/series.

p.s: yr 8's ? Macalimad aa tahay, Camellete ?

I agree, he should have showcased the beauty of the countries he was passing through more especially Mozambique, which is a shame.

But I think he highlighted the issues well.
Madagascar was pretty surprising, they took deforestation to next levels

And haa I'm a macaaliimad.
