Apparently the shilling has apperciated significantly since the oil exploration has started, which is contrary to logic.

I'm more surprised that the currency has stayed relevant despite all the ish it went through. When the Central Bank is in a better position and the construction boom starts it will be a major player in Africa, its already transnational (Somali merchants):
