Apparently CitizenM Hotels worldwide all utilize the same square window motif. NYC was no exception.

Except I think in this case he was only paid to carry out a corporate motif used worldwide.

CitizenM Amsterdam:

CitizenM Glasgow:

Gene Kaufman simply punched the clock here (if that's even any distinct behavior for him).

Whatever one thinks of the cube-ular exterior architecture, CitizenM Hotels feature funky, hip interiors and are popular draws for youthful jetsetters.

I was surprised. It looks better than his usual stuff, but that's probably because of the CitizenM square window motif.

Compare to Holiday Inn Express (that thing is horrendous) yes, but still it doesn't belong in NYC

How can New York, the homeland of skyscrapers and tall buildings, have something that doesn't "fit in"?

The city is full of tall buildings from all major styles and eras. There is no such tall building that "doesn't belong" there!

------------

I was shocked by CitizenM prices in New York! More than $ 300/night!

In the Netherlands, where the chain is from, they are a geeky-high tech hotel without much service and small rooms.

NOTE: The hotel opened its doors on April 10.
