I think this will only work when you also give an explanation why these songs have a connection with trains for you.

▲▲ Plus their slow tempos will forever remind me of the speediness to most N American trains ▼▼ |

Quite the chopper to that Austrian loco.
Hailing from 1973, possibly the world's first rail-related chopper -- the door chimes themselves only about one or two years old. Each about ten years old, one of a pair of trial choppers fitted to a couple of older driving cars. Disqualified trial door chimes. Departure signal of an initial station to a route. |

Road to Heaven
This is one of my favorite songs.
Mandarin version, by Han Hong: Tibetan version, by Basang: Lyrics translation: At dawn, I stand upon the green grassland I see a magical eagle bathed in ruddy light Like an auspicious cloud soaring through the blue sky Bringing good luck to the Tibetan people At dusk, I stand atop the tall mountain peak I see the railway built to my hometown A colossal dragon soaring through the mountains Bringing prosperity to the snowy plateau That is a magical Heaven's Road Bringing the motherland's warmth to borderlands Mountains are no longer high, journeys are no longer long All ethnic groups unite as one At dusk, I stand atop the tall mountain peak I see the railway built to my hometown A colossal dragon soaring through the mountains Bringing prosperity to the snowy plateau That is a magical Heaven Road Bringing us to paradise on earth Barley beer and butter tea will taste more sweet Joyful songs echo in all directions That is a magical Heaven Road Bringing us to paradise on earth Barley beer and butter tea will taste more sweet Joyful songs echo in all directions Joyful songs echo in all directions

There are numerous rail-related songs/musics in Japan, my pics include:
"Tokyo no Sen" by Dentsu AKA Chris Jongkind "Moter Man (Akihabara - Minami-Urawa)" (sic) by Super Bell''z The 1999 classic, mimicking a typical train announcements by a conductor. Not everyone likes them, but I do. "southern keikyu" by 10 The amateur remix of the Touhou arrange song Higashi no Kuni no Nemuranai Yoru (Sleepless Night of the East) Chinese Tea remix, sampling real train sounds and announcement voices. This kind of raillbuff Touhou songs exist as a genre. |

Two memorable songs from TV ads:
"Train" by Ketsumeishi, used on JR East 20th anniversary ad, 2007. "Boom!" by Maia Hirasawa, used on Kyushu Shinkansen full opening ad, 2011. (To be exact, the ad was not broadcasted because the line opned on March 12, just 1 day after the 3/11.) |

Brazilian music:
Lyrics translated: Vida de Viajante (A travellers life) Luiz Gonzaga My life is to go In this country To see if one day I will rest happyly Keeping the memories of the land where I was Walking through the backlands And the friends that I gave there. Rain and sun Dust and coal Far from home I follow the script Another station And the longing in the heart My life is walking ... Sea and land Winter and summer Show the smile Show the joy But I myself don't And the joy in my heart My life is walking ...

Polish Music
Ryszard Rynkowski - Jedzie pociąg z daleka (comes a train from far away) Translated Lyrics (Google translate, so quality is not guaranteed): Do nothing, have no worries Cool in the shade drinking beer Lie in the grass, count the clouds The naked and be merry Nothing to do, have addictions Wherever they can shirk Laze, the world kiss Good Lord, let us Want It That Way, for no one is waiting Conductor gracious, only not to Warsaw Want It That Way, for no one is waiting Conductor gracious, only not to Warsaw Do nothing, have no worries Cool in the shade drinking beer Lie in the grass, count the clouds The naked and be merry A privately to be blond Have a forest of hair on the head And on the bed with a canopy do something more than once Want It That Way, for no one is waiting Conductor gracious, only not to Warsaw Want It That Way, for no one is waiting Conductor gracious, only not to Warsaw Also be what hurts us What we dare only Drink a keg of salt with the enemy Good Lord, let us Do not watch the news A few guests to shout "pass" Golden rybce ogryźć bones for what has brought us Want It That Way, for no one is waiting Conductor gracious, only not to Warsaw Want It That Way, for no one is waiting Conductor gracious, only not to Warsaw No no no no no Anything but to Warsaw No no no no no Anything but to Warsaw No no no no no Anything but to Warsaw

I can't find the cut of this song where its original introduction was the haunted sound of a London tube approaching the station through the tunnel ... funny, I've just learned that this single was an instance of the B side outperforming its A side on the charts.
Version featuring a sped-up clip from The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 ... ![]() |
