As a European express delivery driver in a van, I get to use ferries all over Europe. The most regular one is of course between Dover and Calais or Dunkerque, and I really miss SeaFrance, but they are not operating anymore since last December. Also I use Ancona, Italy to Patras Greece, and various ferries between the UK and Ireland. Scandlines between Germany and Denmark, and Denmark and Sweden is one I use a lot, but my all time favourite is the Silja Line between Stockholm and Helsinki. A 16 hour crossing, and plenty of things to do, see, drink, eat and touch... (Finnish girls are gorgeous)
A few photo's:

I also have travelled the Silja & Viking line ferries to Finland. Silja is considered more upscale
than Viking line. Also prices for taking your car on the Finland-ferries are very affordable compared to other routes as the Rödby-Puttgarden line which cost as much but is only 45 min.

I have travelled most ferrylines in the Baltic:
Göteborg-Fredrikshavn
Varberg-Grenå
Helsingborg-Helsingör
Limhamn-Dragör (closed as the bridge opened)
Trelleborg-Sassnitz
Karlskrona-Gdynia
Stockholm-Helsinki
Stockholm-Tallinn

Now recently I travelled for the first time in the mediterrainian, the Toremar ferry Piombino-Cavo (Elba)

It costs 9 EUR one way.

Silja Line is cheap, keeping in mind that overnight cabins are obligatory. Superfast Ferries between Italy and Greece is good value for money as well. Scandlines is hell expensive.

The ones to the Wadden Isles, are they car ferries? I've only been to Texel and Vlieland, and Ameland once when I was little.

Livorno is a great port. I saw it from the train when travelling to Piombino.

Here is another Sardinan ferry in the harbour of Piombino.

Moby lines also serve the route Piombino-Elba island.

This ferry did not carry many passengers, maybe 1/5 of the seats were occupied.
I think the goverment sponsors this route for the sake of the Elba inhabitants.

The ferry is leaving Cavo harbour.

I was going to mention that doesn't look anything like anywhere on Santorini (was there just a few days ago) but I noticed the URL says Syros. So it's not Santorini. No place on earth probably has as much (Big, HUGE) ferries as the Greek islands.
