They do look fake because they don't adhere to the right proportions! I have no idea why would anyone spend that much money on carvings and decorations if they're going to ruin the building with the wrong proportions... either the architects are really stupid or the patrons are really tasteless (probably both). In any case the end result is as kitschy as it can be.

Imagine a chinese Paris! It would be great, but not copying the architecture, but the town planning!

it will have more sense, not copy the artistic style of the building...

Some of that buildings have proportion, and order, scale, balance, all design fundamentals... and others looks kistchy and horrendous

At least in the pictures shown so far, I can see none correctly designed.

Eeww.. I'm not liking this. It has this eerie feeling of not being built in the right place at the right time.

These interpretations seem very superficial, amateur even.

The proportions are off. The individual elements are excellent, but it's discordant as a whole.

I don't think they look too kitsch, there are certainly kitscher reconsructions in Dresden. And to those who think they are built in the wrong place and continent, well China has a lot of European buildings from 19th century and early 20th century so they aren't quite out of place.
