Estuve el pasado verano en Nápoles y quedé impresionado. Me pareció la ciudad de Italia más completa a nivel artístico, tiene todo: arte clásico, medieval, renacimiento, barroco, neoclasicismo. Lo que más me impresionó fue el museo arqueológico, la cartuja de san martino y el cristo velato aparte de las cientos de iglesias y palacios. Una ciudad injustamente infravalorada.No tengo dudas de que está en el top mundial de ciudades histórico-artísticas junto con Roma, Venecia, Estambul.....

El museo arqueologico de napoles creo que sea uno de los mas completos que se encuentre, por lo menos en relacion al arte clasico (o lo que nosotros los europeos llamamos "arte clasico", tal vez con un toque de etno-centricidad)
Seguramente a diferencia de Roma tiene tambien monumentos de la historia griega,
y eso justamente como dices no hay que infravalorarlo.
Yo no soy Neapolitano, pero yo lo flipo cuando se dices que las ciudades de arte mas importantes de italia son florencia venecia y roma...tronco, te falta la cuarta pierna de la mesa: Napoles!

Otra diferencia que ví con Roma es que Nápoles me pareció más completa. Si bien Roma es la ciudad del mundo más importante a nivel artístico, no tiene una arquitectura medieval comparable a su arquitectura clásica, renacentista o barroca. Tiene románico, pero de segunda fila, y escasea de arte bajomedieval por el exilio del papado en Avignon.
Sin embargo Nápoles tiene monumentos importantes de todas las épocas, y medieval también porque con los Anjou y la Corona de Aragón era, tras París, la ciudad más poblada de Europa.
El turismo de masas no se guía por criterios objetivos. Aquí en España es muy popular a nivel turístico Praga, a mí me parece magnífica pero sobrevalorada. Nápoles me parece más completa y más importante a nivel arquitectónico, pictórico y escultórico. Es incomparable ver las obras de Cosimo Fanzago, Caravaggio, Sanmartino, Queirolo...
En España es muy famosa Nápoles entre los estudiosos, no entre el turismo de masas. Y eso que nosotros tenemos otro aliciente a la hora de visitarla, nuestra historia común, pues era la ciudad más importante del imperio español, la más poblada, la joya de la corona.

We were talking about the fact that Naples, for the volume and the quantity/quality of monuments and artistical/architectonical heritage might be the very only city in the world somehow matching the greatness and the magnificence of Rome in some extent, since it has very valid monuments from every period

anche genova e importante a livello artistico e storico , credo e il centro storico più grande di europa

prima della guerra genova era ancora più vasta e piena di palazzi incredibili
