San Martino is one of the best monastic complexes in Naples together with Santa Chiara.

Tommolo, in May San Domenico monastery will be open to the public after many years of manteinance. If you are interested, I will post some photos when I will go to see it.

Sarebbe fantastico!

That would be great! Please feel free to add as many pictures/infos as you want, this is an open thread!

For the rest I will try to do a reportage as soon as possible!

Monte di Pietā Chapel - Bank of Naples.

In one of the most ancient banks of Europe there is a very interesting chapel: Monte di Pietā.

This is the palace containing the little church (images are uploaded from Wikipedia)

In the courtyard of the palace there is the chapel. The two sculptures near the entrance belong to Pietro Bernini, Gianlorenzo Bernini's father.

These are the interior's frescos

A more detailed image of the roof

There are some graves made by Cosimo Fanzago too.

How can be beautiful a church?
Antonio Canova said, coming in Naples, that he would gave 10 years of his life to create one of the most commovent sculptures of Cappella San Severo: the "Cristo Velato" (covered Christ).

Cristo Velato is the center of the neoclassical chapel:

The most commovent works preserved in this little church are the "Disinganno" (traslated disillusion):

where a man frees itself with the help of the light of the knowledge, represented by an angel;

And the "Pudicizia" (the modesty)

Represented by the light figure of a woman covered by a veil.

Thank you very much, Yuri, I confirm that the Sansevero Chapel is a real wonder and it is one of the most magnificent sculptured chapel I've ever seen, it is just some meters away from the Spaccanapoli little ancient and pintoresque way, and in a 30 meters area you have San Domenico basilica (to me the most magnificent basilical example in Naples), the Sant'Angelo a Nilo church with Donatello's relieves and so much more! That plaza is a real heart of "neapleness"
