Wow, the west side is booming.. I don't know how I feel bout that. I've always thought the West Side was very charming and you can really appreciate the skyscrapers of Midtown since the drop off in height is very obvious. Its gonna be very busy this decade in this side of town

It's pointless to talk about this building.

Why? It's 1240 residential units, with the tallest portion being 31 stories. In most cities this would be the biggest project in the city.

Well I for one appreciate the updates, and if you don't want to discuss this building then don't visit this thread. Not that hard.

there're some parts with 12-13. is it economically reasonable to build that low in NYC??

This project seems very similar to the Avalon Chelsea to me, which is set to start construction this year, and it consists of one 25 story building connected to a long 14 story building. I have to say, I like that style however, since the roof of the smaller buildings are usually converted to small parks.
Edit: Update pic:

The Avalon Chelsea is also important in the process of transforming the greater Hell's Kitchen area (I'm guessing many who live there will work in Hudson Yards etc). The neighborhood is currently dead, and major infill projects like these are definitely exciting.

Looks like they already started. In that last photo you can see some faux brick panels, if that's what you're talking about.

Babyback, that's a good characterization of this and Avalon. This area just needs more residents, and then it will become an actual neighborhood as opposed to what it is now.
