If the rezoning passes in Nov, this tower should be moved to super-tall.

Fingers, toes, legs and eyes crossed ... good chance it'll happen?

How tall might this go if the rezoning is passed?

Another 100m?

425 is still moving forward with their project.

Future Unclear for Towers on East Side
http://www.nytimes.com/2013/11/14/ny...side.html?_r=0

Quote:
The day after the Bloomberg administration withdrew its plan for a swath of glass towers in Midtown because of an absence of support in the City Council, a developer, David W. Levinson, was fielding phone calls at his office near Carnegie Hall.

Callers wanted to know, Is your project dead? — and quickly offered condolences.

“I want people to know we’re fine,” Mr. Levinson said. “We’re still building the finest building in Midtown. Our plans are filed; we’re going.”

Starting in 2015, Mr. Levinson, chief executive of L&L Holding, still plans to demolish a 31-story Park Avenue building to make way for a 41-story tower that he will pitch to hedge funds, private equity firms and other well-heeled tenants.

425 Previous proposed height called for a tower 687ft tall 41-story tower. What is not clear is if the spire was calculated in that height.

The site diagram below says height is 860 ft.

As per engineering report dated 10/7/13

Quote:
425 Park Avenue is a 735ft tall 43-story office tower with three spires (approximately 130ft tall) at the top of the structure
So according to the report = 865ft tall, 43 floors. (Including spire)

Maybe L&L Holdings is planning to stretch the spire another 40 ft to achieve 905??

Current DOB filing for 905ft
http://a810-bisweb.nyc.gov/bisweb/Jo...ssdocnumber=01

Anyway, I’m just excited that L&L has decided to move forward w/o MER. What is filed is pretty much what we can expect.

I am convinced… with the MER approval, 425 would have been a supertall. 

Damn You Goradick for wanting to work with the next mayor!

From the NYTimes article posted above. Sounds like they are not going to wait and proceed since their plan has already been filed.

says it has the same number of floors... what will be different about this'new building' then?

I also can't find any visual documents for it through that link, i'm guessing we'll have to wait for renders?

still 905 ft to highest occupied spot, DOB filings always give an ambiguous height figure

905ft to the highest occupied spot would likely make this a supertall with the crown added on, no?

The plot diagram also looks exactly the same: http://a810-bisweb.nyc.gov/bisweb/BS...de=ES853203878

Looks like design is still the same, thankfully

Citigroup's Move Puts Park Avenue on Edge
Financial Giant's Relocation Is Making Landlords Wonder About Future of Their Space

Quote:

Mayor Bill de Blasio has said he supports rezoning the area but wants to take more time working out issues such as the improvement of infrastructure to handle more people in the area and the pricing of development rights. Before taking office in January, he pledged to offer a revised plan by the end of this year.

Some developers are moving ahead with plans. David Levinson plans to build a 650,000-square-foot office building at 425 Park Ave., which would be the first new office building construction along the corridor in decades. He hopes to begin construction next year after all the existing leases expire.
