I think eventually they're partially demolishing the existing structure, and building on top of what they leave? its either that or a full demo. I can't remember which they're doing here.

Yea I think they are partially demoing. I can't remember but just as long as they retain 20-25% of the structure they can build it taller.

If I remember correctly they're demolishing down to seven stories then re-cladding that and building on top of it.

Just about the only angle this old hulk looks kind of good from - really looking forward to seeing its replacement:

Night and day between the old and the reworked 425 Park. I do like this view with the setbacks but otherwise the new building is a great improvement.

Actually Foster's design seems to refer back to the roots of the old building quite well. I'm glad I noticed that.

It's not too late to change.

^ what are you speaking of? i understand that's your opinion but foster's is a very elegant new york style, zaha hadid is very respectable in her design but it is not New york.same with the one to the right of the current design,We have a state of the art building with elegant features and nice lighting scheme i think we can settle for it!

Please, the Foster design would fit anywhere. If it was built in London, they would call it "The Pitchfork." If you want something "New York style," look no further.

I can completely agree with regenthouse, the foster design will perfectly integrate with the New York City skyline, second in my opinion is the Zaha Hadid renders, her renders are architecturally the best for most cities but for New York. The Zaha Hadid model is great for Miami, Dubai, Hong Kong, Singapore I feel like the Zaha Hadid model is for more modern skylines and more tropical city skyline. The New York City skyline is to boxy for that design.

Its going to take a while to demolish that building, without using TNT.

Zaha's design is, in my opinion, ugly and not even that interesting. The design to the left of Foster's only looks good with the greenery, only 8/9 months of the year. And who knows if the buildings owners would even include them in the end, let alone maintain them.

I liked the one second to the left but Foster's design is taller, arguably more distinctive, and more fitting with the area.
