Yeah, and that's one of these things I dislike about reconstructions based on an idea instead of archival plans and existing materials that give You exact measurements and sizes.

Every reconstruction will look slightly different than original and will be made from not exactly the same materials. So what?

More like ... adjust and keep on polishing it

EDIT:
Of course if it will make everything head towards 100% accuracy as much as possible. Even reaching 95% would be a phenomena (at least in any measurable way, as some things can not be measured and comapred). But if there is a way to make it better, but the only way to do that is by demolishin a previous reconstruction ... I would raze that down to the ground

I'm just hoping that days of modernism and postmodernism are nearly over and soon more beautiful architectural style will become popular and fill empty spaces in Polish cities.

I'm tired of this...

I'm starting to think that you live in a historical lie.

Above that there is nothing such us 'beautiful style'. Everyone has their own.

How is it that malbork was restored by the germans, did they simply rebuild it in the neo-gothic style or did they have some historical descriptions, or paintings to work off of?

The architecture of the first stage in the restoration of Malbork was typical for Romantic historicism and linked Classical composition schemes with a neo-Gothic appearance. From 1855 the castle was fortified. The second stage of the work (1882-1922) was steered by Conrad Emmanuel Steinbrecht, who adhered to the purist spirit represented by Viollet-le-Duc. The intention was to change the castle into an idealised symbolic seat of the Teutonic Knights and remove all the changes made under Polish rule.

Catholic Church of St. Nicholas and Dominican Monastery in Torun (founded in 1264 with the help from Jacek Odrowąż, demolished in 1834 by Prussians)

Members of Tylicki, Elzanowski, Dąbski, Trzciński, Porczyński and Łącki families were buried in the church. Church of St. Nicholas had a rich, mostly Baroque interior with 20 altars (founded for example by Piotr Tylicki; btw, some altars are preserved). Also, for hundreds of years it was the largest church (length: 72 m, width: 30 m, height: 38 m, tower height: 49 m) in this part of Medieval Torun.

Two out of many Polish Renaissance tombstones that existed in the church before demolition...

* Bartłomiej Tylicki, 1615

* Jakub Tylicki, 1615

One of the crypts...

Why Poles are reconstructing the neo-Gothic fantasy vision of Malbork Castle and not almost perfectly documented Catholic Church of St. Nicholas in Torun, which for 570 years was one of the most splendid buildings in this lovely city?
