If it goes to the "most beautiful Cities in Poland" there are Three Big contenders: Krakow, Wroclaw, Gdansk. Personally I prefer Wroclaw. Why? You will see there plenty of good examples of various architectural styles. The city centre is nicely located on the banks of river Odra. Moreover, cities like Wroclaw and Gdansk still got huge potential. In the first place plenty of buildings (whole areas) still needs major renovation.

Don't get me wrong, but what do highways have to do with the question which city of Poland is the most beautiful? Highways might be necessary but more in the way that sewage canals are necessary as well.

So what is your choice. Would it be Wroclaw?

My picture of Wroclaw from this summer, when I took my parents there.

Wroclaw takes my vote as one of the prettiest large cities in the republic. The range or architecture there, the spatial layout of the city, and the energy of the Wratislavians all go hand in hand. I hope the city's current revitalizations continue onwards.

If we're talking about smaller towns, my vote has to go to Kudowa-Zdrój. Although it has a long history as a spa resort destination, I rather enjoyed its calm, civilized atmosphere, its location in right next to Stolowe Mountains National Park, and its charm.

However, I have to admit that I'm really biased, because I used to work in Náchod just across the border in the Czech Republic, and Kudowa was always the place to go to for a nice pizza or pierogi meal after a long day of work.

Po oglądnięciu zdjęć nasuwia się tylko jedno stwierdzenie: Prawdziwie, Polska w ruinie.

I was just thinking about this question today, and realized my two choices are both from Lower Silesia, the province I'm most familiar with (because of my working history being nearby).

So I was wondering...what do you all think are the most beautiful cities/towns for each of Poland's voivodeships? There's 16 to pick from.

Most people don't know enough about other provinces to choose prettiest city in each I think. I certainly can't. But I can do that for some provinces:

- Lubelskie - Zamość (Lublin)
- Podkarpackie - Przemyśl (Sieniawa)
- Małopolskie - Kraków (Zakopane)
- Dolnośląskie - Szczawno Zdrój (Wrocław)
- Kujawsko-Pomorskie - Toruń (Nieszawa)

Gniezno (one of the major cities in Poland in the early 11th century AD, capable of organising 5,000 shield bears and 1,500 armour bearers during the reign of Boleslaw I of Poland according to chronicler Gallus Anonymous)

"Chronicon Thietmari" (written between 1012 and 1018)...
"Bolizlavus [Bolesław I of Poland] (...) Nec mora, fecit ibi archiepiscopatum [Gnesin; Gniezno], ut spero legitime, sine consensu tamen prefati presulis, cuius diocesi omnis haec regio subiecta est; committens eundem predicti martyris fratri Radimo eidemque subiciens Reinbernum, Salsae Cholbergiensis [Kołobrzeg] aecclesiae episcopum, Popponem Cracuaensem [Kraków], Iohannem Wrotizlaensem [Wrocław], Vungero Posnaniensi [Poznań] excepto; factoque ibi altari sanctas in eo honorifice condidit reliquias."
