Romanesque and Gothic Churches in Austria

Hi,

Nr.1

recently I saw this nice small church in Payerbach, Lower Austria, lying between the Semmeringbahn, World Culture Heritage.
The church was found in 1379 and still possesses a romanesque tower. The windows and a counterfort indicate gothic elements.

Nr.2

Mariń Himmelfahrt, romanesque three-aisled pier basilica (built in 1050), with early-gothic choir and west tower (1213). The church is situated between Deutsch-Altenburg and Hainburg at the Danube, close to the border between Austria and Slovakia.

Nr.3

Pfarrstetten-GrŘnau, late-gothic tower of the 14th century, situated south of St.P÷lten in Lower Austria, seen from the "Mariazellerbahn".

Nr.4

St. Sigmund-chapel in Mariazell, Upper Styria, late-gothic, firstly built in 1471, rebuilt in 1501 as one-aisle gothic mountain church

Nr.5

Late-gothic church (1420) in Schwallenbach, Wachau (Lower Austria)

....

will be continued

Felix
