Expo Yeosu pavilion may come to Shanghai
Shanghai Daily
2012-8-13

SOME 8.02 million people visited Expo 2012 Yeosu Korea that ended yesterday after a three-month exhibition themed "The Living Ocean and Coast."

A total of 104 countries and 10 international organizations participated in the show held in Yeosu, South Korea.

The Bureau of International Exposition Pavilion, constructed with help from the Shanghai government and Shanghai World Expo Museum, attracted 800,000 visitors, the Shanghai organizer said.

The pavilion named "EXPO x EXPOS" showcased the history of the World Expos, models of best known pavilions in the past, and the glory of Expo 2010 in Shanghai.

"The organizer plans to move the EXPO x EXPOS Pavilion back to Shanghai to show to local residents," a Shanghai World Expo Museum spokesman said today.

The museum has received a Tunisian mosaic, The God of the Sea, and a centerpiece of the Spain Pavilion – bottles with water from different oceans.

More than 200 Shanghai Expo participants donated about 30,000 exhibits to the future museum. The BIE said that under its guidance, more exhibits will be collected from previous and future Expo hosts.

The museum on the former Expo Site in Puxi will be built under cooperation between the BIE and the Shanghai government, according to a memorandum signed by both sides in November 2010.

Construction will begin next year and the museum will open its door in 2015.
