Ugly buildings that you inexplicably love?
Hi, I'm kind of new here (browsed for a while but not posted much), so correct me if I'm in the wrong place or this threads sucks!
What skyscrapers do you love that you know you should hate? That is, skyscrapers that may not be ugly exactly, but just quirky and there's something about them that you just love. I really like the Longxi International Hotel (Farmer's Apartments). ![]() Yes, it's very kitsch and, well, tacky... but very likeable at the other time. Maybe because it's a supertall that's surrounded by fields!! Its design is crazy with the huge globe thing (?) on top supported by what looks like three individual towers. And then... my all-time favourite. ![]() For the sheer audacity.

+1 for Longxi International Hotel. I know I shouldn't, but I absolutely love it. Sci-fi kitsch!
Another one of my favourites: Tuntex Sky Tower, Kaohsiung

I kinda like the boston city hall. I know a lot of people hate this building. And its not the best looking one. But I admire the concept behind it. That theme of a "floating" building is directly inspired from leCorbusiers work. I think it is a quite important building for the history of architechure. Its at least unique and recognisable. But the space in front of it should be refurbished and should get some trees.
The second building I like is the transamerica pyramid. Especially the top with the elevator shafts. It would be boring without them. |

I don't think they are ugly, they are just unique. That's what I like about them.
