Places in Time: Chicago is about to surpass 30,000 total views in the last 3 days. Thank you to everyone for all the support!

The video has been linked on a number of sites and blogs, large and small, but I’m especially encouraged and surprised to see that the majority of the views are coming from thousands of individual shares and tweets on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, etc. It’s easy to accumulate tons of views if you can get linked at huge sites, but making something successful through organic individual sharing requires something more powerful. I’m thankful for all of the messages and comments and am so glad to have been able to share my love for the city with Chicagoans, former Chicagoans, and the rest of the world. I’m really happy that the piece resonates with all manners of Chicagoans – that is the ultimate compliment.

The response has been overwhelmingly positive, and the only criticisms I’ve seen are regarding the lack of inclusion of some of the city’s many neighborhoods, where a lot of its real character lies. In this piece, I focused on downtown not because I wanted to only highlight the superficial touristy surface of the city, but because it was my home during most of my time living in Chicago. To me, it was my local neighborhood, and I wanted to show some of what I observed on an average day. With that said, I have plans for a more in-depth Chicago project in the future that will highlight more of the city, its character, and its diversity.

I’m now prepping for a busy travel schedule that will keep me away from home for most of the next 3+ weeks, so I’ll be getting a lot quieter on here, but please feel free to send me any questions or comments and I’ll do my best to get back to you as quickly as possible.
