Birmingham's skyline is huge, and is really imposing, but Liverpool has a petty skyline with a mixture of old and new.
I'll give the vote to Liverpool. I do love that waterfront.

Of all of them, I'd rather have a poster of the Liverpool skyline on my wall. It's the most attractive.

It's good to see that people aren't just voting for their own cities anymore
![]() Times have changed. It's good. (even if it means Manchester isn't getting any votes )

Undoubtedly Liverpool, but personally it could only be between there and Brum.

Liverpool definitely. I think Manchester would be up there if there was one or two other buildings 'stepping up' to the Beetham, the effect is a bit jarring to me. Also the main difference between Liverpool and Birmingham (close second) is the profile of the skyline, the buildings have more interest at roof level rather than just big boxes. Imagine New York in the 30's if all the towers were straight at the sides and flat at the top? Still imposing, but not as beautiful.
Also Best Present Skyline II: Revenge of the Skyline? Eh... ring to it. |

Can People Please Not write silly tags. Thank you.
Pros: Liverpool skyline from the mersey is impressive and pretty... Cons: but its a bit of a 2D skyline Pros: Birmingham skyline is impressive due to its scale... Cons: Not many nice talls Pros: Manchester Skyline has some nice talls... Cons: Too spread out and really dominated by a Beetham. Pros: Leeds skyline is impressive on scale and density... Cons: Not many Great talls. Last edited by Lad 2011; May 30th, 2012 at 08:04 PM. |

Obviously not a substantial skyline, but a prettier setting than most

You have the north and Cardiff covered. Where is Bristol, a core city? Where is Portsmouth, a serious contender? Brighton? Reading? Basingstoke?

Brighton, Reading, Bristol and Basingstoke are not exactly leading players in skylines, Portsmouth isn't either although its home to two talls over 100m the skyline is still patchy, if you want to vote for any of the cities you stated you can go for the 'Other, please state' option.

There are only really 6 cities outside London with strong identifiable skylines with a mass of mid/highrise buildings, and they are Brum, Leeds, Manc, Liverpool, Glasgow and possibly Cardiff. Sheffield does not have the mass of mid/highrise and neither does Portsmouth.

Identifiable? I would somewhat say Pompey outranks Brum and Leeds there.
