Because it has 4 buildings over 100m and one super tall. Provincial terms of course.
Liverpool is cool though *cough* |

![]() Salford quays looking dense these days with more midrises to come soon, kind of an extension to its bigger brother a mile or two up the road , but kind of only gels with Manchester in distant panoramic pics |

I've passed through Portsmouth many times and seen the skyline while pulling in on ferrys, and truth be told the skyline is nothing amazing.

Spinnaker and One Gunwharf are nice towers though, but i wouldn't really say they make a skyline comparable to the Listed.

They all have nice skylines. I voted for Liverpool though. Its not the tallest but it is the best formed out of them, and has a waterfront which makes it 10x anything else. Manchester and Sheffield both have hills behind them which can make them pretty cool, and Birmingham's looks pretty impressive, although imo it looks better from a distance rather than up close, but I guess thats the case with most.

Realistically the best UK skyline outside London is between Liverpool, Manchester and Birmingham. My vote would go for Liverpool as has distinctive, goad quality buildings.

Manchester skyline is not all that great, every tall is spread out making it look like theres just 4 towers scattered about on a flat terrain and beetham tower sticks out too much taking all the attention.

What i meant by it was is that Liverpool skyline is only wide from oneside, not that it matters much, the waterfront setting and them nice talls certainly make up for it. Last edited by Lad 2011; May 9th, 2012 at 03:16 PM. |

That is from one angle. From the North of the city you get all the towers bar the new wakefield one in a line and it looks brilliant, I'll post a picture of it after the City match on Sunday.

True, although i do still believe that it wouldn't make that much of difference on the skyline with all the talls spread the way they are.

If only you could take Liverpool's skyline, waterfront and all, and put it next to the Pennines - that'd be ace.
