Is This The Latin American Museum Proposed for Parcel B?

Quote:
A website which calls itself the Latin American Herald Tribune has put up this rendering with the announcement that this is is a Latin American Art Museum planned for Miami, which will go on display in an exhibit during Art Basel. The architect is Fernando Romero. Can this be the museum proposed for Parcel B?
Looks great either way!

Fairholme Capital's Planned HQ

Quote:
In case you missed it, yesterday's Miami Herald had a big, splashy cover story about a "proposed museum building splashy even for Miami", the new Fairholme Capital HQ that financial giant Bruce Berkowitz is planning for Biscayne Boulevard. The project, designed by Arquitectonica, will be a combination headquarters for his firm and a private art museum housing a "pair of monumental works by two art world legends", Richard Serra and James Turrell.

1) The design of the structure is so radical that city planners have had trouble reconciling it with the Miami 21 zoning code, "which does not anticipate a building like it, though they say it could pass muster with variations and modifications." Of course, a zoning code when created from scratch can never anticipate every possible situation.

2) City planners are concerned the anvil-shaped monolith might be too "off-putting" for a prominent site on Biscayne Boulevard. (What, a financial titan's new headquarters that happens to look like a post-apocalyptic fortress is off-putting? Never!)

3) The building's shape and dimensions were precisely tailored to display two monolithic works by James Turrell and Richard Serra. The Turrell, entitled Aten Reign, was recently the centerpiece of the artist's blockbuster exhibition at the Guggenheim in New York. The 200-foot long Serra was last exhibited in Qatar.

This is What the Chateau Group is Building at the Solis Site

Quote:
The still-unnamed project on the site of the former Solis Hotel project (which was partially built, and is now being demolished) is a partnership between Chateau Group and Fortune International and will be 649 feet tall (which is exactly the FAA height limit for the area), and 50 stories, with 212 units, ranging in size from 2 bedrooms, to 4 bedrooms plus staff room, according to exMiami.

Miami Worldcenter Teases Its Signature Tower, Paramount

Quote:
Miami Worldcenter is thisclose to launching sales of its signature residential tower, Paramount, pulling a flashy teaser ad in Ocean Drive Magazine, as well as launching the building's website. Oh, and of course, exMiami says they are. Unfortunately, a scant few renderings have been made public (which really makes you wish city building department records would finally be digitized and put online so we could just look this shit up because technically it is public record over there) but they're about to pull the lid off the big reveal and show everyone what they've got.

Starchitect Daniel Libeskind Condos Could be Coming to Boca Raton

Quote:
Developer Elad National Properties has brought starchitect Daniel Libeskind to Boca Raton to design a four-towered luxury condo complex called the New Mizner on the Green (although it actually might just be 'Mizner on the Green', the name of the rental community currently on the site. We've seen it written both ways). If approved by city government, the towers will be (A) huge for Boca Raton, from 22-29 stories, way over the existing 100-foot height limit for the site, (B) very unlike most of Libeskind's other existing work, much of which tends to look like a mashup between a Holocaust museum and an iceberg, and (C) ironically named after another architect with an extremely different design sensibility who defined the typical Mediterranean Revival look of Boca Raton: Addison Mizner. The 500-unit project would include a two-acre public park, a large landscaped space in which the towers are set back 240 feet, and sweeping views over the Boca Raton Resort & Club and the ocean beyond.

The Iconic Flying Land Bridge of I-395 is Fully Funded

Quote:
With the $500-$600 million budget fully funded, the gigantic flying land bridge of I-395 should sail over Biscayne Boulevard with the greatest of ease in 2018, the scheduled completion date. The final design hasn't been decided on yet, but FDOT has narrowed it down to two options: the Wishbone and the Lotus. Of course, somebody with great aesthetic sensibilities should probably be making this decision, a famous designer perhaps, but this decision is in the hands of FDOT's architects and engineers. So there. Oh wait, there's an Aesthetic Steering Committee. Well, that helps.

More Renderings Revealed of Studio Gang's Sweetbird South Residences, in the Design District

Quote:
Fresh renderings of Starchitect Jeanne Gang's planned Sweetbird South Residences building in the Miami Design District have been released by the architect herself, via ArchDaily. It looks like the design has been refined a tad since earlier renderings came out, with articulation of the balcony railings, a little more organization to where the double-height balconies are, and slight changes to detailing around the ground level retail.

As the architect describes the building, according to ArchDaily, the tower will "demonstrate Studio Gang's principle of exo-spatial high-rise design in which the inside extends to the outside in a dynamic spatial arrangement.

Grandson of Notorious Art Deco Foe Wants to Build This

Click: http://cdn.cstatic.net/images/gridfs..._101413(0).jpg

Quote:
Developer Abe Resnick was once known as the South Beach Art Deco District's "Public Enemy Number One" for such notorious misdeeds as the now-famous demolition of the New Yorker Hotel. Now his grandson, Andrew Resnick, is proposing a tower addition to a block of historic art deco buildings on Washington Avenue, between 6th and 7th streets, including the particularly notable Friedman's Bakery (known as one of the earliest buildings on which Leonard Horowitz tried out his art deco color palette in the early revitalization days), which is now a Manolo. A tipster sent in the snap above from yesterday's Washington Avenue Blue Ribbon Panel meeting.

Normal-Looking, Possibly Too Tall Tower Proposed for Faena

Quote:
It seems earlier plans for Thomas Heatherwick to do a residential tower next to the historic Versailles Hotel in the Faena District Miami Beach have come to naught, and instead he's being replaced by the guy that designed the Faena House at Foster + Partners, except that guy whose name is Brandon Haw is no longer at Foster + Partners but has created his own firm, called Leitersdorf Haw Architects. The results are... from what we see so far... Well, take a look after the jump. The 1940 Versailles tower will contain 22 residential units, while the new building, which is replacing a postwar addition, will contain an additional 45.
