Nike Store With Rooftop B-Ball Court Proposed for Lincoln Rd.

Quote:
Nike has jumped on the bandwagon with Lincoln Road's other big flagship retail stores (see here, here, and here, etc.) and is proposing a seriously jumbo-sized 31,500 square mother for itself on the current site of Pottery Barn and Williams-Sonoma at the corner of Lincoln and Lenox Avenue. Designed by Touzet Studio, the Nike Store would have two full levels of retail, with ceilings that are about 17 feet high, and a rooftop sports deck that includes a basketball court and jogging track. Including a third level giving access to the sports deck, the total height to the top of the highest parapet would be 51 feet. That's taller than the Gap Store down the block, which Touzet Studio also designed. Nike wants to sheet the big, glassy facade in a mesh-like skin with multicolored LED lights, which is something they do at a lot of their stores. The effect might be sort of look like a rounded, sleeker version of the New World Symphony's garage just off Lincoln Road at its other end, and completely unlike what's there now.

Echo Brickell Will Have a Huge Shark Tank in the Lobby

Quote:
Property Market Group's Echo Brickell condo tower will be getting a giant, 12,000 cubic foot shark tank in its lobby, but don't expect a baby Jaws floating in there. In probably won't have sharks nearly as big as in the renderings, says the Palm Beach Post: "It's more of a guideline than a picture of exactly what the aquarium will look like."

Developer Announces Plan To Build Nation’s Largest Mall And Theme Park In Miami

Developer Triple Five is proposing to build a mall near Miami Lakes that could be the largest in the U.S.

In addition to the mall, the project would include a theme park with simulated ski slopes, an ice skating rink, a legoland, submarine rides and sea lions. It would cost as much as $4 billion to build.

Triple Five owns the Mall of the Americas in Minneapolis, which currently holds the title as the largest mall in the country.

The project would be built on 200 acres at the intersection of I-75 and the Turnpike, within the UDRB. Mayor Gimenez told Doug Hanks of the Miami Herald that a deal is in place that would waive a lease that the school board has for part of the land. 80 acres would then be sold by the state of Florida to the county, which would resell it to Triple Five.

Brickell Flatiron Model Shows Nearby Park Spaces Preserved

Quote:
Hey Brickellites, remember when the fight for the future of Brickell Flatiron Park was a big thing? The park has been around for a while now, with the sales center for Brickell Flatiron occupying some of it recently. There is a model of the future condominium tower inside that sales center that shows the CMC Group's plans for that public green space, as well as Allen Morris Park, a block to the north. The model shows a trapazoid-ish shaped open space in the triangular Brickell Flatiron Park, in which developer Ugo Colombo says he will likely build a little retail or restaurant building. The plans are still, apparently, up in the air, but will, at most, take up about half of the current park. On the other hand, however, Allan Morris Park is officially in the clear.

Three New Towers Proposed For Downtown, Replacing Aging Retail Centers

Quote:
Several new high rises were proposed for downtown Miami over the past week, with heights ranging from 831-feet to over 1000-feet.

On March 19, a proposal was submitted for an 831-foot tower at 101 SE 1 Ave. It would replace the Ultramont Mall, a 94,810-square-foot retail center that sits on 59,900 square feet of land.

Ultramont is directly across the street from the iconic 625-foot Centrust Tower (now known as Miami Tower), famous for its nighttime light display. The architect of Ultramont, Schapiro Associates, wrote that it was designed for a ten year lifespan (it opened in 1983.)

The second proposal calls for a twin-tower project to replace a shopping center at 255 E Flagler Street. An east tower would top out at a height of 837-feet, while a west tower will rise to a height of 1,001-feet.

The twin-tower project would replace a retail center that is anchored by Marshalls. It sits on about 110,000-square-feet of land, across the street from 50 Biscayne and the Suntrust Tower.

Quote:
Two 60-story towers due on river

Dual 60-story residential towers with a waterfall are proposed for choice riverfront land in the shadow of Miami Avenue Bridge.

During the city’s last building boom, three condo towers rose on a block on the north side of the Miami River in the Central Business District: The Ivy, Wind and Mint.

This latest proposal, as yet unnamed, is planned to fill in the vacant lot hugged by the existing three towers.

Details of the ambitious project were revealed Monday at a committee of the Miami River Commission. Committee members spoke favorably of the project and made suggestions to improve the riverwalk but took no formal vote.

The two towers are to rise taller than the existing towers. The new buildings will be connected at the top and bottom, with open space in the middle.

An earlier project planned for the site included one bulkier residential tower. The new proposal includes two slender towers joined in an L-shape by a podium about five stories tall, according to Iris Escarra, an attorney for the developer. Kar Miami MRP LLC is listed as the owner.

The design of the towers has them facing the river. A large waterfall would be built on the front portion of the podium levels.

“The water feature falls from the building,” Ms. Escarra said.

Plans call for 406 residences, 20 lodging units, about 30,000 square feet of commercial space and parking for 520 vehicles.

Biscayne Boulevard Could be a Grand Downtown Promenade

Quote:
The Miami Downtown Development Authority and architects Behar-Font & Partners have released a video animation of their plan to completely revamp the Downtown section of Biscayne Boulevard, converting it into a grand pedestrian-focused promenade, like the Malecón in Havana, the Las Ramblas in Barcelona, or the Embarcadero in San Francisco. Called 'Biscayne Green', the Boulevard wouldn't exclusively be given over to pedestrians, but would instead have a large central median activated with greenery, sculptures, fountains, and public amenities. An indoor structure labeled the 'Biscayne Green Marketplace' appears to be the centerpiece.

Largest Mall In America Will Also Include Residential And Hotel Units

Quote:
American Dream Miami, the mega-mall proposed west of Miami Lakes, will also include a residential and hotel component.

Developer Triple Five, which built the Mall of America in Minnesota, released renderings and plans which show at least two luxury hotel buildings, along with condominiums. The number of hotel rooms and residential units was not released.

The mall is expected to become the largest in the U.S. It will exceed Triple Five’s other projects ‘in all respects,’ the developer said. Mall of America currently holds the title as the largest mall in America.

The developers are also promising to build an indoor ski slope that will be the world’s largest.

Wynwood's 'First True Mixed-Use' Building Will Have 101 Underground Parking Spaces

Quote:
Goldman Properties has proposed 'Wynwood's first true mixed-use ground up building' for a site at 2700 NW 2nd Avenue that would contain 72 residential units, 68 hotel rooms, a little more than 11,000 square feet of retail, a little less than 50,000 square feet of offices, and large panels on the facade which will feature a rotating selection of art work. According to the Next Miami, the developer stressed that the 'evolving canvas' would 'in no event' ever be used for commercial advertisement because, you know, the temptation to use them as billboard space is there. The developer is requesting a few inofensive-enough seeming zoning variances from the city, is also planning on building a 101 space underground parking garage beneath the building.

I hope they actually do plant as many trees as shown in the renders and not the "go to" Palm tree either.

A Slightly Closer Look at Rafael Viñoly's Miami River Tower(s)

Quote:
Plans for starchitect Rafael Viñoly's Miami River tower have been officially submitted to the City of Miami Planning Department by the developer, Kar Properties, reports the Next MIami. The design is basically two rectangular towers placed at ninety degree angles to each other and connected at the bottom and the top, with a large waterfall cascading off the podium that will give the effect that it's coming out of the building's swimming pool.

The 60-story towers "top off at a height of 779 feet." Levels 7-46 will be condo, while 56-59, which connect both buildings, will contain a mixture of residential, 20 hotel units, and a restaurant or some other kind of commercial. These levels will be connected by high speed elevators on the building's exterior. There are 402 residential units total.
