It's not for the first time that such o construction project is being done in Chicago, with such a tight space, and so close to the river.

Looks to me like the foundation of the 2nd tallest tower. The tallest will be on the location of the red crane I guess.

It's a magical city. Especially from Millennium Park looking up or from Buckingham Fountain looking up. Or chilling by the beach in the sun during summer and getting your shade from the shadow of the John Hancock Center. Chicago is the all-American city. Moreso than even New York, though I love both to death.

Wolf Point as a whole satisfies my inner city planner. I don't think a city on Earth has such efficient packing of tall buildings as Chicago does. Wolf Point is like a neat little cornerstone, tidying up the riverside. I mean, the way the buildings nestle together on upper wacker is like tetris or something. So pleasing.

That's the parking garage. The second tallest tower on the east side of the site won't be built for a while. right now they are working on the smallest tower on the west end of the site.

So Chicago now has 3 skyscrapers under construction? Great momentum! If only this was 10m taller tho!

Great to see Chicago growing upwards again. It's been such a long dry spell. I used to visit Chicago every year to check on the new skyscrapers - it's been a while since I've done that!

I only see three U/C that are over 200m: Wolf Point x2, River Point

There's a ton of highrises though

None of the three towers is actually U/C. Location on site and the regular column grid (parking garage) suggest they are beginning with a part of the structure where there's no tower above in order to have a construction material staging area. The three towers will then rise on three sides of this area. Clever Hines...

They are going to have to have a plan to prevent that in the future.

Tie in to the Deep Tunnel?

The former swampland is so low the city was built up an entire story to fix this.

That and again reversing the river below lake level makes it susceptible to floods.

The Deep Tunnel has been worked on for some 30 years already but it is still decades out to full system.

That said it has been a very wet late spring and early summer thus far.

That river barrier doesn't look very solid. I guess it was breached in the corner to the right?
